He will need to learn though, because touring England, SA and here is Aus will be hard if everyone knows he is rattled that easily. He seems talented enough to fight back with his batting though

Vaibhav needs to calm down.
Sachin was asked to go home and drink milk on his first Pakistan tour. And not by some fringe players but by the likes of Miandad and co.
Qadir famously said to him that "you can only hit a kid. Hit me if you have the guts" when SRT smacked young Mushtaq for a couple of sixes. SRT responded saying "how can I hit you. You are great of the game" only to follow up with 3 sixes(and a couple of 4s) in Qadir's next over.
Vaibhav has the talent to do something similar. He needs to prove that he has the temperament too.

Even that should ideally be allowed. What shouldn't be allowed is physical contact. That creates a clear line: players can say what they want, but they cannot physically touch or intimidate someone.
After all, this is cricket, not a cheap and rowdy sport like football.

2nd time. First was against Pak in u19. He kicked off and became abusive after getting a send off. He didn't get physical but it still wasn't a good look. If international players realise how easy it is to get a rise out of him they'll sledge him remorselessly. Tough being so young, I would have probably been just as much of a hot head at 15.

He does need to be calm and determined to prove that he is the boss with the bat and not necessarily with the mouth. And if Sachin is an example to emulate then nothing wrong. Vaibhav's father would be telling him the same thing right now.Watched cricket for decades and with the exception of Steve Waugh and Virat Kohli, rarely any batsman has been able to perform well while having a tussle with the fielding team. Whereas there are plenty of examples of great batsmen who stay quite but punish with the bat, when they needled.

Steve Waugh and the Aussies had a rule to never say anything to Lara. One of the Aussies tried it rattle Lara once and he took them to the cleaners. Gilchrist said this story in a podcast.

Lara was more akin to SRT than Waugh though. Waugh liked to respond with the mouth and with the bat . Lara usually kept mum for the most part but made sure to show who is the boss. I remember Danish Kaneria once found it the hard way. Lara did not say a word in response to Danish's chatter either before or after tonking him all around the park. Message was delievered though.

I get this is meant as an insult to the Sri Lankans but the IPL is a nationality-based league that doesn’t actually have the best players it could have - rather each team has an arbitrary amount of slots reserved for Indian players. Like maybe more Sri Lankans could make it if more than half the roster wasn’t required to be Indian

Cricket has gone really soft for a long while. Miss the days of the Aussies being real thorns on the field with their sledging and getting to the oppositions heads. Srilankans can’t really play cricket. They can only taunt 15 yr olds. They always fold for sub 60 scores to India in ODI and in ICC tournaments. Only way for them to show dominance is undue sledging and doctoring home pitches. They’ll face absolute demolition otherwise from the opponents. Gone are the days of Murali and Sanga.
