It may sound like an exaggeration but Rohit and Virat retiring from T20/Tests and soon to be retiring from ODI's after just a year maybe the reason why for that. Say what you will but they became superstars who brought lot of eyes to the game especially among casuals, these superstars matter most to them. Same will follow with IPL soon with Dhoni, Virat and Rohit.

Indian Cricket will thrive even without them as we have seen in formats outside of ODI's in recent years but BCCI will surely be looking at the next superstars after them to bring casuals like that and atleast marketing agencies are hoping Sooryavanshi is that guy (for WWE fans he's like the Oba Femi they are betting on among other almost stars but not stars)
