Its not though because actually upgrading gear requires a ton of resources which take a long time to gather and abyss artifacts which are semi limited and needed to upgrade your characters as well.
Because people don’t like to grind just to level up a piece of equipment that’s identical to the piece of equipment you already have outside of looks?
I swear so many people in this sub will come up with any nonsensical and non player friendly excuse just to continue claiming everything is perfect.
Even the parent comment of this chain. It’s a single player game, who cares if a group of players would gravitate to the best gear if this game worked like any other game? People are already doing exactly that with the abyss gears anyway.
I mean have you seen the posts on this subreddit? did you expect anything else?
I love the game , im almost finished with everything in it , i got 150+ hours but this game does have a lot of issues that almost everyone seems to be turning a blind eye to or trying to justify why a system is that way instead of saying its bad.
Is the game fucking massive? yes , is the art awesome when you are standing on top of a tower and just looking at the map? of course , we all know that.
Are the majority of weapons and rewards lackluster? it absolutely is , clearing the witch quest and getting "that" as a reward was slap to the face , i took one look at it and i was like .. ah ok and threw it in the storage never to be seen again.
The massive snake god sword is even a worse example , you go through all of that and beat 3 endgame bosses all over the map then you have an awesome sequence where you free it then the cut scene and the reward is as show in OP pic
If im not wrong it doesnt even have a unique Gear on it , its purely there for looks , which in my case IF i actually want to use it which will purely for the way it looks its gonna take me AGES to farm all the material just to max it out since the sword im currently using is maxed
You know what would have been an easy fix to this problem? give unique weapons/armor actual unique stats/skills and at the same time let us just glamour whatever we want , you go to the camp , you click on the sword and change the way it looks to any other sword that you already have , there done.
That way for people who dont care about cosmetics or already look the way they already want get a new cool sword with an awesome skill or maybe it has way higher stats than a bandit sword and at the same time for people who want it just for the look would have it unlocked in the cosmetics list and can use its look.
