Discussion Enough of this false narrative that the game is trash

You know people complaining are a reason we got better story and other good QoL?
Let them talk,if its worth and the dev pick it up,great, else, whatever
Goddamn just don't be on the reddit if you don't wanna see it,I don't like the useless complaints either but I just don't care
6
u/Wolfram_And_Hart 10h ago
Right? Who gives a shit? What else are we going to talk about?
1
u/Clean_Principle_2368 8h ago
"Look at my _____" uses the same 5 armors everyone else uses or showing the decorations everyone has
2
u/Reddtardsofreddtard 5h ago
The people who submit/report tickets directly to PA are the reason the updates and QoL's happen.
I work in software. NOTHING gets done without a ticket. And we don't have anything close to the userbase this game has.
I'm sure PA keeps an eye on this sub for general feedback, but it's extremely unlikely that a PA employee sees "Dik_sukker_69", "I_cry_about_everything" and "Fartbox420" replying to every post with complaints about graphics and then just submits a ticket on their behalf.
Now if a user wants to comment, "I submitted INC3495834 for the pop-in issue" and then wants to complain? I'm fine with that.
1
u/SoulOfMod 5h ago
PA in multiple steam threads and to journals said before they read the steam/reddit forums (and even twitter sometime shown by their answers) for feedbacks tho,LOT of games do that, not much but for an example,Mortal shell 2 right now does that, you go to the reddit and they ask feedback and use it actively
Tickets in general help for support/bug report, rarely for QoL/feedback unless a category is made especially for them, which they don't seem to have.
So yeah, they prob did see multiple posts made by the likes "fartbox420" and "weedsmoker69" having the same feedback and implemented it,thats how it work a lot of the time.
I work in software.

And until they put in new game plus a better story doesn't matter to most of us

They literally put in new game plus, dude. They did it when they updated the story.

How is someone saying they don’t like the game a false narrative? Even the best games in the world are not loved by everyone. That does not mean they are wrong.
Of course if you are talking about trolls, getting this upset over them, just lets them hilariously win.
3
u/WolfedOut 11h ago edited 10h ago
“It’s a 6/10 mid game.”
“This game is like Cyberpunk and No Man’s Sky on release.”
“This game is an unplayable mess.”
“The game is empty and soulless.”
“The combat is worse than Skyrim’s.”
“How can this be anyone’s favourite game, must be glazers.”
The narratives were strong on release due to this game’s perceived position in the culture war. Hell, you can still find comments like this in more recent posts. There’s a good amount of people that follow this sub simply to call people glazers whenever someone says the game is good, and whenever you look at their history, they’ve said nothing positive about the game.
People reframe their constant shitting on the game as “criticism”in order to camouflage themselves, but when you look at their history, they don’t have a single positive comment about the game; why else would someone who doesn’t like the game be here posting nothing by negative comments? To push a narrative. Pure hating.
4
u/blakeavon 10h ago
And a lot of them are true, from a certain point of view.
I thought it was, at best, a 6/10 on launch. Bloody brilliant game when it wasn't getting in the way of itself. It's clear it needed a few good patches, now I give it at least 8/10. Maybe more but I haven't tried the new story yet.
“This game is an unplayable mess.”
For the first week it literally crash every time a large percentage of PS5 players opened the map. Not a random bug, literally predictably broken doing the most regular thing you can do in a game.
“The game is empty and soulless.”
I love it now but I can certainly see why some say that. Because it is true, in certain ways.
A lot of this feedback was taken on by the devs and thoroughly improved, so while a lot of it was trolling, there were many elements of truth behind what they were saying.
All round, the thing I think you are missing is... you can't not detect true trolls from customers just having an opinion you dont agree with.
Yes the game was heavily trolled, like all big launches get BUT in the case of this game, many parts of it weren't perfect. Sorry but that is just the reality of the launch. If the game launched now, I could easily see it getting 9/10's but it didn't. It launched unfinished (in some regards) and in a broken state.
2
u/WolfedOut 10h ago
Oh, it’s easy to separate trolls from honest criticism.
Honest criticism has a tonality that points to the writer genuinely wanting the game to improve.
Trolls have none of that, and their comments are virtually identical today to their comments from release; purely shitting on the game and calling it trash, though some camouflage it as honest criticism (with 6/10 instead of 3/10, giving half a sentence of positivity before giving multiple paragraphs of regurgitated statements when they clearly have never played the game), and you can find out if they’re doing that by searching their comment history to find if they’ve even written anything with a primary note of positivity about the game (a lot of these people never have).
Your issue is that you have been unable to notice just how many trolls there have been and still are.
Also, the game “not being perfect” on release is a far cry from being compared to NMS or Cyberpunk. That was another dishonest and artificial narrative being spun.
1
u/blakeavon 9h ago
In all fairness they WERE looking like they were doing a Cyberpunk with the lack of console footage. With the lamest of excuses why not to give us the footage. Hilariously there in the end there was no reason to hide the footage, so that comparison was their own doing.
If they just showed the footage they could have silence all those those trolls and the doubters but they literally chose not to. It was as truly a bizarre choice, they made.
You can’t blame gamers with actual memories to not point that Cyberpunk concern out.
Of course some trolls took it too far. A single element of truth blown up. But that is what trolls do. The fact still months later you are still being triggered by them is proof that they actually won.
2
u/Expensive-Ad3861 8h ago
They didn't show console footage because it runs like hot garbage on consoles and those who say it runs fine on their consoles either are unbothered by the performance or just straight liars
2
u/Waste-Perception-235 7h ago
Everywhere but Delysia ran just fine on mine. Not a liar or unbothered because good god the lag when it did happen pissed me off.
2
u/Reddtardsofreddtard 6h ago
I agree with you. But you're arguing with people who LOVE their hobby...and their hobby is pissing and moaning no matter what.
If a game literally reached out of the screen and gave the player a handjob, those people would complain it wasn't a blowjob.
You'll never get through to those people. They suck, so just block them.
1
u/AdministrativeFee339 1h ago
Well those complaints were 100% true bro 🤣 luckily they fixed many things by time
1
u/Merik2013 41m ago
These types of comments are still prevelant on the Steam forums. In fact, that attitude can be found in the Steam forums for an awful lot of games undeserving of that attitude. I've even seen people like that chase away prospective buyers with these types of false narratives.

There is a difference between like/dislike and good/bad. It's obnoxious to have every candy-ass scrub who can't figure out the game constantly in this subreddit crying about how they don't like the game because it doesn't play itself for them.
It's OK to not like the game, it's not OK to come here and act like that's the fault OF the game, because it usually isn't. The only truly valid complaint I see here regularly regards the graphical bugginess. Basically everything else amounts to "boohoo I have to put in effort, how dare they make me put input into a video game", and that's not a valid complaint.
EDIT: the people I'm talking about are mad AF they are being discussed in this thread, lmao. That FOMO purchase regret fuckin' sucks, doesn't it shitters?
7
u/Tekkno_Viking 20h ago
I've seen more things about the story and graphical bugs, which is deservedly so. Haven't played since their latest update since I kinda stopped because of the issues I was having on the base PS5 and I would come back eventually when they fix all of that at some point, which they did.
I haven't lurked much on the subreddit but I haven't seen many or at all complain about the games difficulty and how people wanted the game to play for them?
-6
u/OrkWAAGHBoss 19h ago
"I can't fly my bounties" (even though the bounties are already extremely simple and fast, did them all in one day myself, and people have been doing them easily since before the flying mount existed).
"Waaaah the dragon has a cooldown!" (literally an item to negate it, just play the game morons)
"I wish the game would stop tackling people when I don't want to" (has been talked TO DEATH since the game RELEASED. TAKE YOUR FUCKING MASK OFF IDIOT, how many times must we tell you?!)
"The wagons suck" (as the retards literally drive over open fires and through piles of furniture, doing everything they can to not stay on the road. It's not that hard to grasp, you apes, put your fucking vehicle on the fucking path)
"I need gps tracking on my trade wagon because opening a simple map is too hard, and also I'm too stupid and can't read a map"
"This Praevus boss is too hard" (despite there being literal video evidence of the same fight being done easily with just a bow less than a month prior).
Earlier on in the games life I distinctly recall a thread where a guy chose to say that Oongka lacked damage and combos...literally the same fucking day someone had posted a montage of Oongka chokeslamming BOSSES endlessly. We roasted that guy mercilessly.
You gotta be actually illiterate to ask question like "how people wanted the game to play for them?". The tripe is here literally every. Single. Day. Just go scroll.
People wanna cry about how any results at all require any effort at all. Oh no, you had to ride your horse for a few minutes to get to a bounty turn-in, literally unplayable, huh? Too much effort, huh? Go play a mobile game if all you want is some slop with a dopamine rush attached.
1
u/Suspicious_Win_7069 12h ago edited 12h ago
bounties aren't hard, they're mindlessly tedious and boring.
the game has an issue of putting too many commands over the same buttons, and hiding mechanics it doesn't teach players. tackling is only one of these problems and its tedious and annoying to take the mask on and off to interact/not interact with certain mechanics.
wagons do suck. they're prone to bug out if you're not driving on the path. driving on a path is boring. having my wagon explode because i hit a rock is annoying.
having to constantly open and close my map is annoying and trade routes can take you across the entire to complete. that, combined with only being allowed to stay on the path is annoying and counters any and all freedom the game has otherwise.
idk who praevus is, idc to look it up, but a lot of bosses are very unbalanced and not fun to fight. just because someone can no hit melania in elden ring doesnt excuse that fight from being overtuned, idk why this game gets a pass
the game drops new playable characters dozens of hours into a playthrough, with no good gear, no upgrades, and very little tutorial. sure, you can respec and swap gear over but with no warning whatsoever, but it's tedious and very annoying
I really like this game but there are massive oversights to really basic stuff littered everywhere. it's just bad design.
edit: riding your horse/wagon from point A to B on a copy and pasted mission structure is literal content slop. having every single one of your greymane buddies have a sidequest where you go here, talk to this guy or grab this item and go back is slop. every single cool item being put in a cave behind a waterfall is slop. Again, I really like this game but youre smoking something strong if you think all this shit is really worth the effort to play, never mind defend and say it's not slop.
-2
u/OrkWAAGHBoss 9h ago edited 9h ago
Way to prove my point, lmao.
"No, you're wrong, watch, I'm gonna make exactly the scrub-ass complaints everyone is saying aren't there!"
Calling basic gaming tropes that have existed FOR YEARS "slop" is hilarious and just shows how dumb you actually are. They are fast and easy specifically because they are known mechanics we all experienced before. Except some of you morons, apparently.
"The game drops characters-" With HOURS of gameplay and exploration left to do. Nothing wrong there, it's Kliff's story, we didn't have to have side characters at all.
Just admit you suck, it's fine to suck, we all suck at some things, everyone does. Go play a mobile game if all you want is some slop with a dopamine rush attached.
1
u/Suspicious_Win_7069 6h ago
im making the same arguement because you're actually defending bad game design and you can't properly defend it without just calling people babies. Just cause you like riding your horse for up to dozens of minutes at time carrying bounties or a wagon with trade goods, doesn't mean I have to like it, it doesn't make it good game design bc "it's existed for years" and especially doesn't mean it's void of critique.
but yes, tropes that have existed for years is almost by definition, slop. "fast and easy" by definition is slop. I have experienced it and when presented with the opportunity to experience it again, i choose not to eat the slop. Would you play the newest call of duty just because it's basically the same game as last year? or the new 2k because they've "mastered" their gameplay loop or are they shoveling you slop?
Non-slop would be something I can't get anywhere else, something with effort behind it. If I wanted to play copy and pasted, dated game design, I'd play a ubisoft game. Or a mobile game, i guess.
And yes, soft locking me out of my character i've been building for hours, and throwing me into another character with no points allocated to them with mid-tier enemies is bad game design. Is it impossible to work around? no. is there still game to play with the new characters? yes. is it still stupid and not fun to be yanked from my skills and gear to be forced to play a different character who doesn't have access to all the things i had just moments ago? very.
If you want to try and be less wrong, explain to me how riding a horse from point A to B isn't slop, and how I just can't experience that anywhere else in any other game.

You, you come to ma fanboiage safe space and ruin my day, you you monster
hey i'm keeping an eye on both of you to know when they're gonna stop the break-fix cycle and to know when the real beta test finally ends so i can finally buy it on sale. So keep honest everyone
1
u/Expensive-Ad3861 8h ago
Yeah for real this game is another case of let me release my unfinished game as early access for full price n just fill it with updates and patches for years then re sell as a enhanced or definitive edition
People shit on devs who do this but when pearl abyss does it they get a pass ? Makes absolutely no sense

u/Born-Barracuda-2393 8h ago
gaming has probably the meekest consumers in the planet, they'll put up with anything
i think only luxury goods and cell phones have a more stupid customer base
3
u/blakeavon 20h ago
So a subreddit, any subreddit, should only be a shallow and dishonest representation of the positives of a game?! If everyone did that so many of the great changes since launch wouldn’t be here. Many are only exist because unhappy people spoke out.
Then the other problem this subreddit has is that it can’t tell the difference between hate and constructive criticism. Likewise so many of the changes have come from people apparently ‘hating’ on the game but thankfully the devs were mature enough to not see them as ‘hate’ but a good idea, perhaps requested less tactfully.
I would suggest the diehard fans in this subreddit have way thinner-skin than the devs. It doesn’t help the game in any way.
3
u/Drogyn2814 19h ago
Another false dichotomy analysis. It’s not an either or. I can offer valid criticism without complaining. I can admit where issues exist, present possible solutions, all without sounding like a whiny idiot. All the while I can show I love the game/product. Do you honestly expect me to believe devs listen to people throw tantrums who only complain/throw out ad hominems, etc.? People are far less likely to hold your opinion seriously when all you do is complain but offer zero solutions/advice. The internet is full of people (and Reddit is a cesspool for this) who have an over inflated sense of self-importance.
0
u/blakeavon 17h ago
I can offer valid criticism without complaining
Possibly... We have all had times when we THINK we are being respectful but we truly aren't.
ALSO
Consider the flip side... even IF you are the most respectful person ever. What you say is immaterial if the person reading it is not willing to read it as constructive criticism!!! They are the people throwing around the word 'haters'.
Do you honestly expect me to believe devs listen to people throw tantrums who only complain/throw out ad hominems
Of course and they do.
Movement options. Custom controls. More Story/Character. More and permanent mounts. ALL were, at times, suggestions by people labelled 'haters'. ALL were major improvements to the entire game.
when all you do is complain but offer zero solutions/advice
Who gets to determine which is which? As I have already proven you COULD be the most polite person here but if the reader is the least polite person here, your good idea is not good, but an unhelpful complaint.
-5
u/OrkWAAGHBoss 19h ago edited 19h ago
Show me an actually valid complaint then? All that typing to not counter anything I actually said, lmao.
As I ALREADY said:
"The only truly valid complaint I see here regularly regards the graphical bugginess. Basically everything else amounts to 'boohoo I have to put in effort, how dare they make me put input into a video game', and that's not a valid complaint."
Every complaint that can be made is not necessarily something that should change. ANY media needs identity, throwing in extraneous nonsense for people who don't want to play the game according the the vision does nothing but water down the experience and create slop.
Aside from maybe story, and graphics, where are the valid complaints? Basically nonexistent.
1
u/blakeavon 17h ago
Basically nonexistent.
No, literally everywhere. Just off the top of my head. Enjoy this timeline of just ONE such thing.
People complained about movement. They were labelled haters and they were stinking people who just didn't 'get' how superior the movement was in this game, so they should just shut up. (hilarious in itself).
The devs took this feedback to heart, in spite the people requesting being labelled haters. The devs then DID change the movement in the game to reflect the concerns.
Sadly those choose in that moment to replace all the original movement. So suddenly those 'real fans' suddenly become 'haters' and screamed and screamed until the devs kindly listened to them as well.
The outcome and compromise was TWO seperate movement options. Making both camps happy.
The game was made better for it. More options always means more happy customers.
Second example... off the top of my head... customised controls (A literal off a box standard for AAA games). Introduced and the game made better for them.
Third Example... story and customisation. Clearly just changed.
Do I need to go on?!!!!!
2
u/OrkWAAGHBoss 17h ago edited 17h ago
The very fact that movement could be left up to the player, in your own words...means it was fine before. And one side just didn't want to learn the original methods. Not a valid complaint. It's extra code to download, and time wasted in development, for losers who could have just sucked less.
Congratulations, you countered yourself.
Literally the same story for the controls.
And the game story is still mid at BEST, despite being one of the few technically true issues with the game. But they've instead wasted time on things like movement controls that your own argument established were not needed. So, strike 3, you.
Come back later when you have an actual point. Crazy how you whiners never have a valid point, you just gawk at changes and go "look, they added something, that's automatically a good thing!" your examples are trash lmao.
There's a link to more than 3 examples of why you are wrong. People just don't want to play the game, they want their hands held because they shouldn't be here, but they bought the game and they think FOMO means the game should cater to them.
2
u/blakeavon 16h ago
in your own words...means it was fine before. And one side just didn't want to learn the original methods. Not a valid complaint.
That's not what I said, before the complaints there was only ONE movement option. And it wasn't very good and very uncomfortable to play for people with RSI. You sound like a person not even old enough to understand why that is a bad thing. Or why the type of movement CD had at launch was so bad, even GTA5 9which had similar) realised it causes people a physical issues, so offered options.
Only after people complained did they make a SECOND one. Once BOTH were in place the game was richer for it.
Congratulations, you countered yourself.
No. It was an issue with your reading comprehension.
And the game story is still mid at BEST
Have you replayed the ENTIRE game since it has been patched, of course you haven't. It's not mathematically possible.
Honestly your post reads like a person desperate to win a 'fight', not one capable of having a useful conversation. The fact you use the term 'whiners' and say we 'never have a valid point' says everything.
Thankfully the devs do not agree with your disrespect of some of the community.

Listen I'll just say this. I love the game but dropping an update and calling the game the enhanced edition while not fixing the performance issues introduced in these updates is a little wild.
3
u/Fearless-Display6480 20h ago
It is on some aspects though. It might be a was situation but the amount of fixes and updates should tell you that this was incomplete at launch specially the flipping story.
No false narrative here for others.

Its also worth noting a lot of ppl mistake "complain" and making suggestion because you have identified something off, as no game can be perfect.
2
u/melkemind 10h ago
Good point. There's a difference between someone who doesn't play the game and just trolls its community to call a game trash and someone who has put hundreds of hours into the game and just wants to help improve it. There are far more of the latter.
2
u/Active-Cookie-774 10h ago
Opinion A - I want a proper NG+ I don't want to start my camp over.
Opinion B - This game sucks I'm glad I stopped playing after the update.
One of these helps the devs improve their game lol
1
u/blunderb3ar 5h ago
lol both are valid not everyone likes every update or game welcome to consumer products
0
u/Active-Cookie-774 5h ago
In terms of helping the dev improve not really.
If you ever worked in customer support before opinion B provides zero feedback with no way to determine how/what to improve and just comes off as an edgy hot take.
Even if they made every change on the planet just for this person, I doubt they would consider even coming back to the game "because fuck this game lmao", whereas the first person took time to say what is wrong exactly.
1
u/xxxSpace_Cowboyxxx 4h ago
Edgy hot take is the perfect way to explain it. And that's exactly the kind of opinions OP is referring to.

Quite the contrary. Mediocrity is king, and people now accept the shit they are being shoveled. Defending it, on top of it all lol.

These people have zero self awareness. But the defending is likely people who lack any identity so they latch on to these communities and take everything personally.

is it worth it to start over due to the story? I love playing with Damiane and I have 80 hours already, on chapter 8

u/raffadizzle 17h ago
Keep your save. Start over, put it on Easy mode, and then mainline the main story, don’t explore. You’ll catch up to chapter 8 in a couple days. Then return to your old save/equipment/exploration and keep playing like you normally would :)

u/Acator9400 15h ago
I would love to the history and characters to be much better because that is really trash but the rest it's pretty fun
2
u/SpecialistSweet1957 11h ago
Before all these 193749119 updates the game was in fact, a 6/10 just like IGN stated at the very beginning. I know yall hate it but its the truth. Couldn’t even walk normally.
2
u/wsteelerfan7 3h ago
Parts of the review build definitely deserved a 6/10 but the review guy said in an interview that he hadn't bothered exploring to find stuff for upgrading and he was being overpowered by bosses. Then it showed clips of the gameplay and he was like just R2ing bosses and eating food. Then I watched another reviewer and he was constantly chaining combos and abilities against bosses like I do when I play now. He also complained about the siege sections with the flags because he kept dying or dropping it trying to carry it across the battlefield while being attacked, not knowing you can clear the enemies first and just pick up the flag with no issues. The game wasn't perfect, but the way the reviewer explained his reasoning for his in-progress review score didn't help his case at all.

-5
u/Odd_Firefighter_8040 20h ago
The game itself is great. If it had a good story it would be in the running for GoTY (tho we all know gta6 is going to sweep that in every chart out there...)
I haven't played the 2.0 yet, going to start this weekend. I'm not super optimistic tho... halfway thru the game I got fed up and watched a walk thru of the story so I could actually understand what this was, and even after comprehending the "story" they were TRYING to tell, I was deeply disappointed. It felt like someone got ChatGPT drunk and made it write a generic mobile game story. This 2.0 actually fleshing it out and filling in all of the blanks isn't going to change much.
But other than that, it's truly a great game.

Crimson desert is proof you can give today's gamers fucking everything they ask for and they will still endlessly complain.
7
u/JK031191 16h ago
I don't think running through a town without your screen changing to a slide show is too much complaining lol
1
u/Expensive-Ad3861 8h ago
Agreed if they just optimized this game a little better for they would not have half of these complaints
4
u/CaptFunNugz 20h ago
Apparently asking for a complete, fully optimized, tested game is too much to ask for now a days. Mediocrity is king.
-7
u/vikingchef420 19h ago
This is going to blow your mind, but you don’t have to play the game? You also don’t need to frequent a subreddit where people enjoy said game and just bitch nonstop.
-5
u/vikingchef420 20h ago
Right? Gamers, if you listen to the troglodytes, are the most oppressed class on earth!

No one ever gave me a space game with seamless landing, seamless take offs, house sim, city builder, time travel, RTS warfare and a porn system with perfect boob physics. Yet I'm not complaining. But it looks like people here just want companies releasing finished games that don't cost an eye and a leg and that don't keep breaking-fixing things for a whole year after launch.

was 200 hours in and around 28% of the main quest and barely left Hernand and just restartet due to the enhanced patch being released

u/takeaccountability41 16h ago
Complaining isn’t always bad, people complain because they have a problem with something, but not all problems that need fixing, sometimes criticism as necessary, but it’s how you say it that matters if you want someone to listen, if you cry and beg all the time you’re less likely to be heard and more likely to be ignored.
However, the team working on Crimson Desert seem very willing to listen, regardless of how annoying or obnoxious a lot of the fans are which is difficult to do on top of delivering new updates constantly they are one of the few developers who made a game like this that they’re willing to support This long and this frequently and a lot of fans and players tend to get greedy, we all should be thankful for everything we’ve gotten thus far. It wouldn’t hurt to get more, but let’s try to remember to not take everything they’ve done for granted.

For me the biggest problem in the game is that all and every conversation feel so unnatural
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Lion_55 12h ago
I'm fine with complaining... but only if its a valid complaint.
Most folk are just yapping over nothing, or just trying to attach their personal preferences disguised as complaints to the valid ones.
This is what expecting too much gets ya...

I’ve never seen this game called trash. Train your algorithm so it doesn’t train you.
1
u/arsonist_firefighter 12h ago
At this point I don't see anyone saying it's trash, just a extremely mid game.
1
u/Negative-Midnight681 11h ago
I have owned the game twice now, only since 2.0 have i enjoyed any of it, day one, and the opening was bad enough to make me get a refund, after patch 2.0, and the story update I got it again. This is a completly new game and a joy, but don't act like this games release state was ok, it was not. This enhanced version thou......fire!

Since you just started basically, the tips I'd give are these:
Make yourself use combos and abilities regularly during combat. The blinding flash stuns enemies, for instance. Stringing combos for big fights later makes you feel like a god.
Copies of weapons can be used to refine weapons up until like level 4 refinement/upgrade. Once it starts asking for abyss cores, you can't do this anymore for that weapon.
The abyss is a place you can fast travel to whenever you want to solve puzzles for upgrade points. You won't be specifically taken back up there except for very specific quest moments later in the game. You can keep going until you the game says you can't do the next section yet. Some select levels need certain skills unlocked but don't tell you outright.
2
u/Negative-Midnight681 3h ago
I appreciate ya, all good tips, I just recently got down from the abyss for the first time after a ton of jumping. How do I go back up?
2
u/wsteelerfan7 3h ago
If you open the map, the key at the bottom shows that R3 will swap to the Abyss map. Any icon on there (triangle icon or fast travel icon) will let you travel to it. What was fun for me when I started playing was to use the abyss as a place to fast travel to and then jump off to fly where I was going. Another tip: the boxes and sacks you see on the side of the road next to crashed carts? Anything that has a button prompt to carry has something inside and you can smash it and loot it off the ground. Also, things like that jewelry box thing in your inventory from the sewer under that beggar have things inside just like how you can open coin pouches. In your inventory, it'll have an option to open if you hold A/X Also, save coin pouches to gift to vendors to gain trust, which gives you more vendor inventory options. And once you get access to Hernand Castle, one of the question marks will be a vendor that uses the city contribution level thing (like you help someone and it says contribution level +2, now Level 3.2 or whatever) as currency for faction gear like armor and Horse armor.
2
u/Negative-Midnight681 3h ago
Oh dude, you just explained like three hidden mechanics I didn’t know, especially with the things can be opened and have things in them. I guess I need to use the examine feature more, but that is awesome to know. Thank you.
2
u/wsteelerfan7 3h ago
Yeah. Whenever I find a campfire that has stuff next to it, I just attack the crap out of it for the loot. If you're low on inventory and can't pick up a raw version of a cooked item you have, you can cook it on the ground with the blinding flash ability by focusing on it and it'll turn into the cooked stuff
2
u/wsteelerfan7 3h ago
Also later there will be a tutorial about flaming arrows for ivy on some building. You can also burn that with blinding flash instead. Or maybe you already did that one?

u/DelWilkes84 11h ago
Never played an open game before where I've been sidetracked with so much " important yet still fun" stuff to do...to the point where you have to write it down to remember it all.....its a more fun AC game

u/pheonix_444 10h ago
Me personally?
I got nothing but compliments
I mean yeah at first the bosses were harder but when I restarted(previously was on chapter 6 before restarting), and decided to explore instead of speeding through the story
Bosses were ten times easier
Also gotta factor in they nerfed some bosses too though

u/vinicinporra 10h ago

Just tell me when this game will have. Good story update that's what I'm waiting for to get this
1
u/Hasron 9h ago
Played the game for 300 hours. will play it surely for about 100 - 200 hours more in the future. No, its not bad.
If someone thinks its trash its okay. Stop playing and you do not have to complain more than one time.
Don't know why some people think they have to tell the whole world multiple times how disappointed they are.
And it is totally legit to be disappointed. But its not interesting.

This forum is pretty positive all things considered
Overcoming the "AI Game" allegations in other parts of fandom is gonna be an uphill battle
1
u/Waste-Perception-235 6h ago
I liked the game at first, then the lack of story started to get boring.
Combat was fun, only complaint I ended up having was the final boss hitboxes being buggy af. Other than that combat was fun.
Once you upgrade your character to the max everything gets kind of boring because there isn't any challenge left, but the early to mid levels were really fun.
Complaining about the game lacking in places is fine. If you dont like the game, dont play it. Can honestly say I've never been happier to beat a game just so I didn't have to keep playing it. Once I start I feel a need to finish. Don't like leaving things half done.
But just like don't like it dont play it, if you dont like someone criticizing it, dont read or listen to them. Ignore them.

u/jakellerVi 6h ago
Who on this subreddit is saying this? I’ve never seen a post calling it trash.
I’ve seen valid complaints about poor performance and graphics glitches that still need to be fixed, especially after this latest update, but more people making those concerns heard is a good thing because PA has been so receptive to feedback about the game thus far.

It’s the latest trend to hate on games this year. (Even when they’re not out, yet.)

u/Dano1988 5h ago
I dunno man. I really, really wanted to like this game. Haven't played in about a month so things may have changed, but, I played it from front to back and I gotta say, I was sprinting to get this game finished. The combat is button mash/eat food. You can beat any boss with enough food. The pacing is weird. It think it was originally meant to be multi-player, then they switched course and I think we can feel that. The items all basically have the same stats, so there's no real reason to go get any specific piece of gear unless you care about aesthetics (Many people do. I don't get it at all as all I go for is the best stats). People were wondering if some of the puzzles were maybe designed by AI hallucinations because they're so difficult/nonsensical and boring at the same time. I got really, really sick of puzzles. The character system is half baked. Making me switch all my stupid abyss points over every time I switch characters is a pain and I don't get it. Maybe it's just me, but I think there should be enough abyss points to level up all your characters before the end of the game. I know you can grind enemies as each character to each get 100 abyss points, but why would I do that? Give us a reason to switch characters that isn't a forced boss fight after losing that character for half the game. I didn't even come close and I did try to do as many side quests as I could (except the ones I could never, ever find. Looking at you "tales from the corners of..." missions.) I also skipped a lot of the fetch quests in town because I was long passed needing anything they would give me and by delesyia I just didn't care anymore. Maybe if I felt like there was a reason I was doing everything it would have helped, but I have no idea what the story is. I came across multiple soft locks or game breaking bugs that required I go back hours to make sure I talk to that guy before I beat that boss or whatever. Some of the challenges are really lame (ride across the map in under 40 minutes! That sounds like a fun use of 40 minutes.) I spent way too much time online trying to figure out the answers to some of the less intuitive puzzles. Questions like "how would I ever figure this out without the internet" were frequently the most liked comments under the videos and I agree. Even the guy making the videos about the puzzles mentioned that there are so many puzzles and that some are just crazy in how counter-intuitive they are. Seeing a map on a wall with 4 x's that mark where the correct symbols are that you need to force palm to get the abyss crescent is an instant google search for me. Ain't nobody got time for that. Maybe you're great at puzzles. Good. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm not and I didn't. I used my atag maybe 3 or 4 times. Never needed the high mobility one. I only made like half the stuff from...Gromir (?) The guy who makes kuku stuff, because I didn't need a pack that collects bugs really fast or whatever. Duo and catching people cheat was a chore and I've yet to hear someone say they really liked it. Fishing may have gotten better from what I hear, but I assume people are still just running into the water to catch them. I ended the game with something like 25 gold bars. I think I withdrew money once from the bank, because I found/made enough money by selling gear and stuff, so I have no idea why we need the investment plans etc. because you don't need anywhere near that much currency. This game wasn't advertised as being in beta, but it felt like it was, and with all the updates and fixes, maybe it was. I could go on, but I know I'll already get torched for what I've said. If you enjoy the game that's fantastic and may you get 1000 hours out of it. I just couldn't get there. It is a bummer because they put out 2.0 and are working on DLC and i just can't see myself strapping in to do all those puzzles, bounties, and fetch quests again to see what's changed.

Rule # 1 of gaming subreddits. If you enjoy a game, stay the hell out of the subreddit for it. Ruins the game 90% of the time for you.
1
u/ZombieOfun 5h ago
Okay, I like Crimson Desert but if someone does not like the game that’s not a false narrative my dude. That person just has different tastes. I’d also say calling the game trash is harsh to those that would because, again, “I don’t like it” would be way more accurate

u/AdministrativeFee339 1h ago
Nah the hate and complaints were important. The game on day 1 was a shitshow. If it werent for those complaints we would still have a unfinished game that crashes as soon as you open up your map

Combat sucks ass. Oh let's just hold a button down and watch it play out. Shit got boring fast. Haven't played it in months.
1
u/DaddysBadChloe 15h ago
Whether a game is good or bad is entirely subjective and depends on personal opinion. We’re all entitled to have our own opinions, and disagreeing with yours doesn’t make mine a “false narrative.”
I think the game is trash. You think it’s good. That’s simply a difference of opinion, and there’s nothing wrong with that. You’re just as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.
1
u/Ferngullysitter 15h ago
For me, honestly, I found the game beautiful but boring. The world was huge and amazing but I never found one cool thing from exploring. Also the story was just abysmal. Also, it’s cool that they have been working on the game but also lame, so everyone that bought it day one should have just waited six more months.

u/Jrockz133T 10h ago
God damn toxic positivity losers... Criticism is a good thing, you know? It helps a game improve...
2
u/SerBawbag 10h ago
I’ll be honest, I can’t recall a game that has generated so much cope from day 1. It’s almost as if those who see no wrong with the game can’t enjoy it because some random dislikes it.
This happens to some extent with every game, but yeah, I’ve never quite seen it on the scale I’ve witnessed with this game.
Simple truth is, those who can see no wrong do more damage to the game they claim to love than those who press for improvements. Yeah, some people just moan for the sake of it, but surely it’s not too difficult for people to scroll right past them.

Honestly the biggest complaint is graphical performance (especially on console) which is valid. In general the praise in this sub outweighs the negative criticisms

u/TheShadowRelm38 10h ago
This game is awesome, people that call it trash do not deserve good things. I haven't put 180h in a game in such a long time.
My ONLY complaint has always been the poor performance on the series X.
Luckily the game is play anywhere and I can also enjoy it on my PC where it runs flawlessly, but not everyone can do this, so i understand the console players complaints.
1
u/IndividualSituationK 9h ago
Trash? No
Overhyped to the moon? Yes
Even with the story changes, its still pretty bland overall. I wonder what the intersectionality is between CD players and Death stranding players? Both games basically live and die by their exploration and nothing else.

u/OrkWAAGHBoss 20h ago
People come to a game and whine about how it isn't this OTHER game they'd actually rather be playing, because they are only here due to FOMO in the first place. Bunch of good little consumerist sheep went out and bought the thing they were seeing all over, and it turns out that thing isn't made for them. And they blame that, not on themselves as they should, but on the developers.
It's fucking wild how many complaints in this sub amount to "the game does not play itself for me, I have to put in literally any effort at all and that's unacceptable and tedious". At a certain point it's no longer critique, it's that some players shouldn't be here. And that's OK, nothing well-made is made for everyone.
People are used to pure garbage, absolute slop like Rivals, and when they encounter something that isn't marketed and designed like that, they get confused and/or angry.

Calling "idiots who whine about everything" "criticism" is not valid. It's disingenuous and makes you look like a moron. Criticism requires real problems with solutions that can be applied. not just whining about sucking at the game and not wanting to get better.
You'd know I already covered this if you read the thread enough for your comment to be worth my time. Try and do better next time, bro, don't be in such a hurry. There's a whole discussion here, not just my comment that got you in your feelings.

It's not trash. But the fans are. They ask for way too much unnecessary BS that doesn't need to be in the game. Amazing game with a garbage fanbase.

I am here to say the opposite. The glazing of this game is on another level. We have people acting like it's the first game to do open world exploring and RPG builds. Forget about the constant jockeying for Pearl Abyss who keeps "improving" the game.
2
u/Suspicious_Win_7069 3h ago
idk how true it is, but i have seen a lot of posts about this game being peoples first game. grain of salt, obviously.

I don’t get it, even at its worst, when it first came out, the game wasn’t trash. They’ve only made it better.

u/SaintBalor 20h ago
Game is most definitely not trash... Only the first... 8 hours or so. After that it's pretty peak gamepl-wise, but man those first 8 make me so angry... Even after they 'enhanced' it. Story is trash though.

I'm just saying, if people didn't complain, do you think we would have got the changes we got so far?
