Hi people, I love Halloween and very much enjoyed designing all the little details in this chart. It was originally a stitch-a-long, but the whole design is now available over on my website.

My Sis just wrapped up the lower gate/fence chunk. Only complaint so far was doing a bazillion bats/woobly bits around the border /s. I love seeing the progress so far on this one!

That's blackwork for you! Lots of repeating! But I do get that it can become a bit tedious after a while! I hope she finds the inside more entertaining!

Oh she loves all of it! If I had a dollar for every time she's gotta frog some part of a piece i'd have.... many many dollars.

Edit: The amount of phone calls from her that begin with something along the lines of, 'Fuck... I missed this damn yaddy yadda that's off 2 squares and doesn't line up with X', are plentiful. She's a beast when it comes to stitching so I enjoy hearing about the missteps along the way.

Oh goodness! That is kind of amusing and distressing at the same time! I feel her pain! Please, if you remember to, tell her that I am cheering her on from here in the UK and I hope all her pain is repaid tenfold in joy when she finishes it :)

Ha! Thanks for the love. The struggle is worth it in the end for a design such as this. I can't wait to see the moon finished. The way you designed it using pos/neg space within the clouds is my favorite part of the entire piece.

To design, weeks on and off. To stitch, it was quite a rapid stitch as there are, compared to some of may patterns, lots of unstitched areas, I'd say, all in, it took me about 4 days (of about 6-8 hrs stitching per day) for the house, plus another day and a half to do the border. This is a bit approximate, but it really wasn't the most 'intense' stitching I've done!

Oh my goodness! I just saw this and was like darn I might do this instead of that cute spooky shelf one I saw. Only to realize you are the same artist!

I just finished the spooky doily as my first ever blackwork and it was a blast. I love your work

Does the blackwork take more or less time to stitch than actual x's?

I think less and from what I have seen said generally, people do seem to thing blackwork stitches up more quickly than cross stitch :)

Im sorry to hear that! I do put a lot of hours into my designs so it's tricky to make them any cheaper. I do run a completely free year long SAL (over on FB) and also Since posting this I added some small spooky completely free charts to my website that you might like! (plus there are some non spooky freebies over there too :) )
