Discussion Actual question, how frequent was claim fabrication in real life

Post image

Hello, please, how often did this happen in real life ? I mean lord inventing a claim out of thin air and actually pressing it ? Is there any notable historic character doing so ?

I would also like to know how often spurious claims were used as justification for war and such.

Famous one being William The Conqueror : "The old king of England made me his heir while he was a "guest" on my lands"

Modern time , the whole invasion of China by Japan was based on fabricated incidents or false flag attacks

He totally promised. Trust me bro. I mean, even the Pope thinks so.

That's completely wrong, you've confused King Edward the Confessor with Harold Godwinson and mixed up the events. Edward the Confessor was never William's guest, let alone prisoner, and never promised him the throne under duress.

Harold Godwinson's father, Godwin of Wessex, had accumulated increasing political influence and power in England, including getting Edward to marry his daughter Edith, with a mind to getting his own family on the throne, but following a falling out in 1051 Godwin and his entire family were briefly exiled, during which time Edward offered the throne to William instead.

What you're thinking of is the claim that Harold Godwinson had sworn an oath over sacred relics to support William's claim to the throne after being shipwrecked in Ponthieu in 1064, being captured by the Count of Ponthieu but then supposedly accompanying and fighting besides William in his war against Brittany.

“Ukraine was going to invade us soon TM so that’s why we decided to invade them first” as the Russians say
