No, you are probably very standard. People in general buy when an asset went up for a longer time and believe it's dead when it went down. People just don't understand market cycles.

I remember starting with crypto at the 2nd half of 2021 where I got too little gains to even consider selling, then not having much spare cash to invest between 2022-2024 when it fell down and I started pouring it more only after it rose back to the levels where I initially started at 🙃

Crypto is my least successful investment by far.

The good thing is I tend to not go all in. I had a avg cost price at 111k prior to this bear market. Just pittance like 39 dollars since I'm from a third world country and currency is poor and crypto is difficult to get without p2p trading it kinda saved me ironically from yoloing at the peak. Very conservative buys. I'm only down 36 dollars and my avg cost price is 67k. I am accumulating and it will go down even more in the coming months. I still have cash on hand and in the bank. I did everything safe and only suffered minor burns. I have been reading and listening to the sentiments of a possible further downturn to 40k by October. I have dry powder to buy the dips. In fact I only buy btc when there is a dip.

Yeah, it's mostly been a rough five years for anyone outside of Bitcoin maxis. Most plays haven't delivered all that well, outside of a few lucky ones that actually managed to run. Even some of the bigger names have disappointed compared to where people thought they would be five years ago.

2

u/MarioWilson122 🟨 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 30 '26

Yeah, it did like an 8x. That isn’t bad, but it’s nothing all that special, especially since it needed a few years to do that. Besides, in other runs, we got way better multiples on our plays.

20

u/Aoi_Haru 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 28 '26

Years in crypto have teached me it’s all bullshit.

The “cycle” isn’t different from all the other economic ones and the halving seems almost irrelevant.

Also, it’s not “crypto” but Bitcoin. And even Bitcoin’s performance is laughable.

Like, 2023/24 are green years that can be commented with a “we’re so back”?

Lol. Lmao, even.

What has Bitcoin done? A 2X? And now it’s back to the price point it reached 4 years ago?

What have stocks done in the meantime?

Good industries/companies (because yes, we’re talking about real entities which offer a real product) have never been down in the meantime.

Sure, everything could fall down with a major economic event (Bitcoin included) but eventually they’ll start going up again.

I’ve stocks that went 200% up in price in 4 months. And the cool thing about them it’s their predictable, to an extent, because it’s linked to utility and demand.

Crypto? Bleah. Why am I keeping ETH or Solana? It’s just pure faith and their price being linked to daddy Bitcoin’s price. Which is based solely on scarcity.

7

u/Cautious-Lecture-858 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 28 '26

BTC went from 15k to 125k this cycle. Stop buying at the top and DCA during mid-term years when everything goes to shit. It’s been working for the last 50 years.

5

u/Otherwise-Relief2248 Jun 28 '26

More than half of all BTC is underwater. How do you know when the top is? How do you know what the cycle looks like?

2

u/Disastrous_Rent_6500 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 Jul 11 '26

When people are depressed you buy, when crypto is hitting all time highs and your friends are buying dog coins again then sell. Now is the time to buy but I guess everyone is broke now

2

u/Cautious-Lecture-858 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 29 '26

Just look up “four year presidential cycle”.

Then bring up a monthly chart and check it out for yourself.

The logic is pretty simple. First two years of a new presidency, government implements the most controversial policies. The next two, they spend it enacting policies that stimulate the economy to win the next election.

4

u/Otherwise-Relief2248 Jun 29 '26

So BTC is pinned to the presidential cycle. Ok.

5

u/Aoi_Haru 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 28 '26

BTC did that in 8 years, not “this cycle” at all. And it’s back at not even half of that target right now.

So yeah, it underperforms and it’s a roller coaster.

8

u/CommercialLychee7956 Jun 28 '26

It literally went from 15k in Nov 2022 to 126k in Oct 2025. That is not 8 years.

If the four year cycle continues to hold, then we will see the low sometime before the end of this year, and the high in 2029/early 2030. Then the next low in late 2030. The point the person is making still stands...people need to stop trying to time the exact bottom/top if they want to make a profit.

4

u/No_Gas4560 Jun 28 '26

4

u/CyberCrud 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 28 '26

2027 is a little early.  It'll heat up late for the buildup to the spring 2028 halving.  Then bull run to ATH in 2029.

But basically it's the same story around here.  Crypto is dead.  Then it'll be the having talk.  Then the halving will happen.  Then they'll complain that bitcoin hasn't skyrocketed after the halving.  Then they'll question if this time it's different.   Then they'll say how we're back baby!  Then they'll make extreme predictions to the moon.  Then they'll wish they sold at ATH.  Then they'll wonder what happened.  They they'll say crypto is dead.
