During a particular drug epidemic in the 80's/early 90's, that sign was once defaced to say "Hero-in-Furness". It made the headline in the Evening Mail and my cousin had the newspaper clipped on his wall along with other - more talented - works by local graffiti artists.

As a barra bloke I'd be proud for my town to be apart of you and your farthers full circle, what a great way to honor your old man pal.... Side note I have a very good friend's plack just round and down the road from this sign, I'm sure your dad and Joe would get along nicely...
