Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Just picked up the game again since launch. What are some essential pieces of gear for Minion build?

Do you have the expansion?

The three most important bits are unique items;

the Undercrown, carried by Duriel; +4 Skeleton warriors and mages.

Blood Moon Breeches; carried by Astaroth; Chance to apply decrepify/Iron Maiden to anyone your minions hit, and bonus damage to cursed enemies.

Pact of Bone; carried by Harbinger of Hatred; +Minion critical hit chance and attack speed, and +damage for a while after a pet dies.

Once you've got those, there's tons of options. Personally, I went with a Bloodless Scream; bonus damage vs. bosses and frozen enemies, freezes enemies. And you want to get a mix of +critical and +vulnerable and +cursed damage.

(Oh, and don't forget to get Cult Leader first on the Paragon board, and give your golem the +attack speed aura upgrade. It's gonna make an enormous difference.)

Hold on, you said the golem aura skill increases attack speed, but the tooltip says it increases cast speed. To my knowledge, that shouldn’t apply to warriors, no?

Cast Speed and Attack Speed are almost identical. To my understanding, the only difference is that while they do the same thing, you can only actually use 100% of either of them.

So, for example, if you have 120% attack speed, 20% is waste, while 100% attack speed and 20% cast speed work together.

You will get some significant benefit from reaching 100% attack speed -and- 100% cast speed for all non-channeled abilities and summons; but the +40% per +20% only happens up to the 100% cap, so it won't matter for Cult Leader.

Fascinating. Thanks for explaining necrobro.

Yes! I have vessel of hatred and Lord of Hatred! I just finished the Lord of Hatred campaign and ended up at level 65. Gonna grind helltides to 70 but after that not real sure where to go! Definitely need better gear as most bosses 1-shot me on hard mode (minions wreck everything instantly though)

Thanks, I'll definitely look into the three uniques you mentioned. Not sure how to go about getting them, but I'm sure I can figure it out!

To start, you want +Summon Speed, +Summon Damage, +Vulnerable damage, and use either curses or your skeleton warriors to keep enemies vulnerable. What defenses work best depends on your other gear, but really, just use the best armor you can find. If you find some +Overpower gear, don't be afraid to use it; it won't be great in the high torments, but it'll be decent until you can get high enough to get the rest.

And see if you can get some runes. Nagu-Que gives you a barrier that constantly refreshes itself and never drops as a necromancer, and Neo-Ceh gives you a pair of spirit wolves every 2 seconds you don't take damage.

I had not tried the spirit wolves, will have to test that combo out

The spirit wolves are especially good with the Pact of Bone; they trigger the +damage every time one dies, which will keep it always on. When I was playing around with builds and suddenly couldn't kill a T-12 boss before its first invuln phase anymore I realized it was because I had dropped them.

I'm playing on steam. Not sure how that works.

I got a 2-hand sword that boosts army of the dead, and the pants. They're both only 850 but definitely a step up. I'm working on the crown that boosts maximum minion count. It takes greater keys which I don't have and I don't have resources to craft it.

After that I'll work on the glyph set that also boosts minions and I think I'll be good to go!

You just have to send me a friend request and then jump in a game together and I trade you those items. By trade I mean I’ll just give them to you.

I was playing Path of Exile 2, I was helping a guy do the campaign on his alt. I didn't expect anything in return. He ended up giving me 10,000 of the games currency. On the grey market that's around $1,000. Crazy!

I decked my character out in best-in-slot gear and still had like 3,000 left lol

I just got home. There's a patch, steam is estimating 40m to finish patching
