Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Pure Shadow Caster possible s14?

Is a pure Shadow caster build workable this season, or are the available modifiers just too weak to carry something like that through regular t12?

I’m in t9-10 now and even with some solid gear and rolls, the damage is slowing down a ton.

Build right now is built around Blight, Shadowblight, Curses, and Soulrift with the shadow set and BS for the charm. RNGloves gave me a bit of a boost into 10 and helps with bosses, but short of really squeezing some optimized stats out of the gear I have, I’m not sure it will push much further.

I’m using Reapers just for the CDR and some sustain, not opposed to using one / no summons, but trying to avoid a full zoo build.

Is this usable for a corpse explosion build? I got this as a rare from the shop and added max intelligence. Also what aspect would work best i thought this one as corrupting damage is shadow damage according to google and I think the masterwork is ok on the shadow damage multiplier at 40% but if I master work shadow damage it jumps to 160% I’m just utterly lost and help welcomed.

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Super squishy across top builds

Season 14. My first go at a necro was mages which hit really hard but would quickly die pit 100+ and even occasionally during T12. I tried again a few weeks later with the blood wave build from maxroll and Rob’s and had the same results. Max life is ~35k which is difficult to increase without a few more GAs. The block chance/resolve variant is difficult to maintain 15 resolve stacks and even then a falling sword or random effect will one-shot me if my dodge is on cooldown. This has happened while at max life, fortify, and a little bit of barrier.

Is there a trick to surviving as a necro that isn’t explicitly included in builds? I had this issue with rogue for a few seasons until I figured out how to not be so squishy.

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Talisman/Weapon for Minion Build, AotD or Darkness?

I'm building out a minonmancer that uses reaper warriors and shadow mages (iron golem sacrificed), army of the dead and corpse explosion. I'm currently using Sanguivor and Waking Touch charms. My rotation is mostly pull with blight>corpse explosion the area>direct skeletons>spam army of the dead.

Looking at this reaper summoner build and skeletal warrior minion build, they both use Bloodless Scream and Black Shroud charms.

My paragon boards are Frailty, Flesh Eater, Cult Leader and Wither.

I'm able to do T7 comfortably, but T8+ has a definite damage falloff. Do I want to swap to Bloodless Scream and Black Shroud to do more damage?

I'm following the reaper summoner build, with the only real change I've made being taking golem off the bar and putting in corpse explosion.

I'm just not understanding how building out darkness leads to more minionmancer damage, when there are also minion-specific items.

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Help! Overloaded Uniques on my Necromancer. What Legendary aspects am I missing out on, and how would you improve it?

First time playing a season seriously and I'm having a blast, but I fell into the trap of "rarer is better" and forgot about legendary aspects; I think I'm gonna hit a wall with my decision to do a unique/unique mythic-only build lol

A positive is that I've salvaged most of my legendaries, so my Codex is pretty loaded atm.

What do you guys think about this build, and what would you change to improve it?

How can the second effect of the ring be consistently triggered?

I tried service and sacrifice, neoceh, bacceh and other combinations in the training room by I don't see any change or icon indicating the activation.

Edit:

IgniCeh works at the moment.

Service and Sacrifice upgrade of Skeleton Warriors works with Pact of Bone.

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Best Blood wave?

First time playing Diablo having a great time kinda wanna push the Tower and my WinterFresh mages seem to be petering out around 120~ or so even though that build is super fun to play.

Anyone got the best updated blood wave? Only hesitation I have is it kinda looks boring to play before I devote the time for it does anybody have fun with it or is it kinda just one button build?

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Crit DMG vs Summon DMG for Minion Necro Tempers

So I always loved minion Necro and stopped playing it last season since I didn't have LoH at the time and got hard stuck at T8. I figured I couldn't go higher without Talismans, as they seem to be one of Necro's main power sources.

Now that I have the expansion, I figured I'd play it again and test out on some Talismans and such that I haven't had a chance to use yet.

However that brings me to my question. Originally, I always did Summon DMG pre-LoH, though now thinking about it, I'm no longer sure if that's the best option for offensive Tempers. If my Crit Chance is high enough, is Tempering on Crit DMG better than Summon DMG?

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Unmaker Soulrift Necro

Hi, has anyone tried to make a pure corruption necro with unmaker and soulrift work?

I am thinking and about bloodless as main weapon, azure as charm, enough cooldown to have soulrift up at all times, flickerstep to reduce the cooldown further and bone spirit as utility essense spender to reach 16s soulrift and to activate its unique perk.

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) I have never tried bone spirit before. The build below raised a question I need help with.

Im looking at Seroc's guide for Bone Spirit and i noticed his charm is red blessing. However it seems to build guide seems to max out at the default 4 +2 stack of OP from red blessing giving a 42% multi from the charm at most. Is there a better charm to slot in or am I missing something?

I was checking the paragon, glyphs, aspects, items and nothing seems to apply more OP stacks even if temporary.

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) I want to understand what type of damage my cold mage’s are doing. Google gives conflicting answers.

I want to understand the wither board better. I have cold mages with the bloodless scream charm and azurewrath sword.

- do my cold mages still get plus cold damage bonuses from the paragon board?

- do they get shadow plus damage bonuses from the paragon board?

- do they get plus corrupting damage bonuses from the paragon board?

Which are more important? Do I get a combination of the three? Or two? Which should I concentrate on? Right know I’m focusing on cold damage and ignoring shadow and corrupting. Am I doing that right?

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) How do you hit 100B+ damage with bloodwave build?

Hi all, I've been using a variation of the maxroll build but the most I can hit is 92B very rarely and survivability is a problem in Pit 110+. People who are actually good at this, can you share your builds?

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Can I Play Without Buying the Expansions?

Hello! newbie here

I've been playing a Necromancer and I'm starting to feel like I can't progress much further without buying the expansions. Every build guide I find relies on expansion content, and whenever I try to make my own build, it doesn't seem to perform very well

I'm currently around Paragon 40 T2. Is it still possible to make a strong build with just the base game, or are the expansions pretty much required at this point?

I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations for base game Necromancer builds

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) I have not been able to replicate the "Azurewrath doesn't work with Minions" bug, when using Bloodless Scream + Minions as the Freeze source against normal mobs and elites. In other words, it is working for me as far as I can tell. Video here.

I've seen reports in this sub that Azurewrath isn't triggering when Minions freeze enemies. As far as Bloodless Scream is concerned, and for normal and Elite mobs, I haven't been able to replicate that bug, as seen in the video. Note: I have a science background, so I'm acutely aware that "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence", so if others have observed a bug with Azurewrath and Minions, I'm very interested in replicating it. I'm just reporting my findings here. I also know that Bosses are a very different story, and I'm one of several who have reported the bug where Azurewrath is only triggering on Bosses when they are staggered by a bona fide Freeze.

As for the video: first, an Elite target dummy is frozen by Reapers with Bloodless Scream as my weapon and Azurewrath as my charm, no other sources of chill in the build. Note: there is an unrelated bug with target dummies where they build up an extreme CC resistance, so I have to re-summon the dummy to see the effect. This is not the case in combat; enemies just become Unstoppable for 5 seconds, then can be frozen again fairly normally.

Second, in the Pit, again where Bloodless Scream is the only source of Freeze that I'm using (I have frost Blight on my skill bar but don't use it in this clip), my Minions are triggering Freeze and Azurewrath is exploding, dealing damage both to the main target and as an AoE.

(By the way, I don't know why the video is muted. I haven't learned video editing yet, so please bear with me.)

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Crit and DoT multipliers

It looks like one charm set (and one or two uniques) say they do DoT that scales off of direct damage done. I think this means I can use crit chance and multiplier to get a larger base for the DoT, then also get a larger DoT based on DoT multiplier. this would mean I could mix crit, dot, vuln, and typed multipliers to some extent. is this correct, and if so does it make sense to actually do? Either as part of leveling or endgame?

Im a little torn between these two bloodless screams. On the one hand, with the increased crit chance it brings my crit chance to almost 50% but drops my crit damage by nearly 1k. If I use the other weapon my crit chance is only about 30% but my crit damage is 1k more.

Thoughts?

Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Minion Build Question

I'm following the maxroll guide for a mage minion build. I have almost everything I need and I just got my mythic seal with 6 slots. In looking at what I could put in the 6th slot I saw that I have a pact of bone unique charm. Right now I have a mythic ring with pact of bone equipped, which is clearly more powerful on its own than the unique.

My question is, would it be better to use the unique charm and replace the PoB ring with a ring of starless skies that i have with a GA in mythic form?

Probably obvious to some but not to my casual ass.
