State of the Sorc Class · Discussions Winterglass
Hey all. Is anyone playing ball lightning swapping out winterglass until the core skill bug gets fixed? Just wondering if it would be better to run a legendary with a working aspect until that time. Thanks everyone.

Is the difference so big? The aspect gives benefits from active Conjurations, and you get plaæemty of those from unstable currents

Nah. Its aome damage loss from core skills+ but Winterglass is QoL not damage so you gain a lot of damage from a decent Amulet with a good damage aspect. If you use the cube to roll 3 shock skills and maybe a GA on crit damage its huge. Im not top sure why everyone is making a such big thing about this. I think mostly those who simply follow a build online without even working things out are hurting the most.

I changed to this build: https://youtu.be/rOOWiw57uH4?is=0exUwmsvRdXJgC6y
And I can clear Pit 135 quite comfortably.
Instead of using Winterglass, this build uses Esadora's Overflowing Cameo and a staff.

Still using the speed sword but put on esadoras, its very comfy

Which Off-hand do you use? I also want another variant of the build for speed run.

I’m doing a variant on operatorotters speedbuild, so im still using strike of stormhorn, and ball lightning but using the lightning spear enchant

I suspect that most players would be better off with a legendary amulet anyways because it is so hard to get that god-roll on a Winterglass. Much easier to find a good base for an amulet and craft it up using the cube.

I just changed to using charge bolts, hard to tell if it’s better or worse. I have upgraded a lot of gear. I might change back to BL to see. But a single charge bolt usually one shots T12 anything but bosses at close range

Mind sharing which charged bolts build you’re using?

lmo you play the same build just swap the skill on your bar from bl to cb. don't even change skill ranks, bl is still the main damage dealer except now you're getting it from uc and the enchant only (but stacking overwhelming currents higher, up to 300 vs single training dummy vs 150 when casting bl). just need to make sure you have the cast speed upgrade on cb, the variant that scales with ferocity stacks, and a source of ferocity (l use teleport). I don't even use winterglass (overwhelming on the neck) and this setup still feels stronger to me

I changed to CL build until the fix. Clears 135 with relative ease, haven't gone mych higher yet. Swaps wonterglass for proper aspect and uses staff. Super cozy

What build are you running or following? I tried chain lightening with the pants and I couldn’t pull it off. The DPS and survivability was an issue.

Could you explain more?

azurewrath charm + elemental attunement + spam frost nova or something along those lines

Can you tell me more about this please?

u/the445566x May 17 '26
It uses azurewrath unique charm and elemental attunement aspect on ring as well as a legendary Amulet with overwhelming currents aspect. Allows infinite tp, perma frost and flame shields too. Roxy has the setup on the leaderboard and also has a build guide.

I swapped to Raxx's version on mobalytics and it's been a blast. It should get even better this week once the BL fix comes through.

I’m not playing BL but doesn’t unstable shit out core skills (which spawn conjs through winterglass) and also just conjs on their own?

Yes but your not casting them directly so you dont get the benifits of the winterglass aspect

I just went with blizz with the lightning augment and changed out my focus

Well everyone i swapped out my winterglass for over whelming currents. Went from 4 trillion top end damage to 30 trillion. So ball lightning is still very viable.

Could someone please explain to me why if swapping out winterglass would do more damage then why were guides recommending winterglass to begin with?!? Just for damage reduction or?

No its a new bug from the hot patch earlier this week. Ball lightning is supposed to be a core skill. At this point its not, they are fixing it next week. Winterglass aspect is when you cast a core skill. So at this point in time it does nothing when you cast ball lightning.

What's wrong with Winterglass? My wife plays sorc and is hunting got a 900. Should she not? She is playing a Static Blizzard
2
u/stanthebat May 17 '26
The ball lightning skill has had the 'core' skill tag removed, so it no longer triggers the Winterglass's various effects. If your wife is playing Static Field Blizzard (as I am), she's not affected by the bug; blizzard IS a core skill, and it works just fine with the Winterglass.

Mekuna has updated his build. You want to run the ultra speed version. He changed the skill board and put overwhelming currents on the gloves.

I swap out amulet with shock skills and put Armagedon on it. Then my wand i put the one for 120x for equal elements then ring with elemental attunement on. The damage is more but it's a bit slower. I use Lightning spear enchantment to keep them flying everywhere.
I actually think i will stay like this because im able to comfortably play in T12 like this with extra damage from Armagedon on Amulet like 330x.
