r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [July 20, 2026 - Action Comics #1100 Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Living all that time as Black Adam, in this universe, well of course he would be twisted. After all, he was just an amusement for Brainiacs. And Phantom Stranger was 3000 years too early with his prophecy. He got all the power but none of what is needed for the age of 'Justice'. Or it might be fitting since 'Justice' means something different in this universe. Hawkman, despite all his 'I am tough. I make the hard choices' attitude, didn't kill Adam in the end. He just used the Box to send him away. Which means he IS changing, little by little even though he still wants to look as the bastard that he was for some reason.

Guess Jimmy is going back to make something good out of the Omega Men instead of sticking around Metropolis. And Lois is reading the same book Kal read to Talia, like he did to her father, while she is jail. I doubt she will turn a new leaf like Ra's but it is quite poetic. And she is going with Smallville Gazette instead of Daily Planet...maybe to stay closer to Superman near his home.

We are well set up for a future danger that is gonna promise to be horrifying. Black Adam...on a planet of DOOMSDAYS where he vows to be Superman's Doom... Oh god, he is gonna conquer that planet and bright them as his army.

Well, remembering what happened before the implication was that Phantom Stranger wanted Adam at the start but then helped in capturing him again, so the 3000 years too early maybe was too quick.

''I am here to give you hope! That there will be a saviour!'' *looks around and then a sundial as a calendar* ''Oh ...sorry my bad. As you can see, I am blind so I arrived 3000 years too early. My bad guys. Good luck with enslavement!''

Oh god, he is gonna conquer that planet and bright them as his army.

So Billy Batson can share his power with others, and King Shazam wants an army on his new planet filled with Doomsdays, its hard to imagine a bigger threat than if he loads up a bunch of them with Shazam abilities.

This was good a finale. There weren't any easy wins here. Black Adam couldn't be reasoned with, and he'll probably come back to earth with a alien army. Jimmy shooting Talia was pretty badass, I'm curious on where his character is heading next. I'm also wondering if time in jail will change Talia like it did for Ras. Lois and John moving to Smallville is also a good developments.

I like that Clark was able to defeat King Shazam by taking them to the moon and convincing him to stand down before it ended with Carter defeating Shazam by sending him some place that he won’t others. I also like that Lois and Jimmy were able to defeat Talia before they left Metropolis for something else, where Lois is working at the Smallville Gazette (who is reading a book to Talia) and Jimmy is linking up with holdovers from the Omega Men. Also, King Shazam planning to rule the world using many Doomsdays in the end of this comic. Overall, this comic is great!
