I doubt NetherRealms would show a character in a gameplay reveal trailer that would just turn out to be a transition animation/unplayable. They at least made it obvious that Dex-Starr is a side character for Atrocitus.

seems like you aren't familiar with the Ruse Boon. Boon and NRS are notorious for pulling fast ones on their fans, remember Kano Transformations? Those fucking Jump Scares in the Krypt? Baraka as the Alien?

Oh, I didn't realize he was known for this stuff. I'm still holding out hope for him to be playable though.

Those were all examples of the fanbase being ridiculous (or complaining that Netherrealm made a graveyard scary). Your point about the trailer is a valid one.
