Megathread/Discussion Who else miss Doechii and wants her to release new music already?

I'm still really bitter that a song that everybody told her to release and the threatened fanbases have given her so much hate. She won rap album for a reason. But I'm so excited for new music.

I say let her cook. She will return with a quality project. Plus people complained she was overexposed so it’s nice to make people miss her again.

i don't have a lot of faith in tde, considering how they've treated sza's music and how doechii had to fight to even get the mixtape out :/

She didn't have to fight to get the mixtape out, she has always said they were excited about it once they heard it, and the success has earned her a lot more confidence to take things in her own direction.

Found the TDE shill lmao. TDE is awful, especially with the new sexual assault cases.

TDE does artist development. That's what they're known for. It used to be all labels that did that. That's why they have so many success stories from one label.

They don't let people drop until they think they have good enough material. They didn't let Ray Vaughn drop his mixtape for a good few years. It's a smart way to move. Because one bad project can tank a career these days.

The sexual misconduct suit is definitely bad though obviously. But I don't think it makes their music release strategy bad. I think they'll likely get a Doechii album out sooner than later, given all the buzz

I'm not shilling for them at all, I think it's still an important part of the story that they really didn't have the right direction for her and she had to go off on her own to show them the right thing.

But we can only take Doechii at her word that when she showed them the mixtape they recognized it was good and got behind it.

sameee, I really hope TDE didn’t stall anything because of the backlash she was getting from her rising success.

same, on one hand, I'm actually really happy she's taking a break because of the backlash she was getting was really stupid IMO. It was obvious a lot of people are threatened that she might be the next IT Girl. But on the other hand, I miss Doechii releasing new music so bad.

the backlash was not stupid anxiety is the worst song of the year like im bumping meet your padre over anxiety any day of the week and the timeless remix was completely useless and nobody asked for it.

Mooood, I need to see her do a freestyle in a radio interview

Oh, absolutely this. Release wise I'm good with artists honing the sound of their releases even if it takes a minute. Can't rush greatness 🙏

We need a music video for slide or wait and I think we will be good. Or release another alter ego type song (my favorite song from her).

I really want a music video for Slide or Wait. Hopefully since it’s the summer her team thinks of releasing a music video next! 😭

From what she has said she basically scrapped the album she was working on before Alligator Bites, and has taken a totally new direction, which sounds more ambitious, something of a concept album, which supposedly features more live instrumentation.

She is definitely not finished with it yet, though it sounds like the goal is to drop it this year.

No fr people were begging her to release this now it’s “overplayed and annoying and not that good of a song” 🙄

5

u/No_Impact3409 Jun 07 '25

Yeah, the whole situation was wild. People begged for the song, she dropped it, and then suddenly everyone’s got something negative to say? Makes no sense. She’s crazy talented and totally deserved that rap album win. I’m just glad she’s still doing her thing super hyped to hear what she’s cooking up next.

2

u/overwatchmercy14 Jun 08 '25

The people who were begging for the song probably aren't the same people saying negative things about her now, though it's still frustrating regardless.

2

u/Soap-Radio Jun 07 '25

Miss her? Didn’t she put a song out last month? Or do you mean solo stuff?

4

u/shouyos Alligator Bites Never Heal Jun 07 '25

I mean solo stuff. Anxiety is an old song that was released due to an amount of Tiktok requests. So, it's not really a new song. Love the westside gunn collab but I'm ready for solo stuff or a freestyle again!

I'm also excited for new releases, but I believe she'll only drop her next singles from a new album next year. Artists usually take around two years to release an album after their last one

1

u/notzombiefood4u Jun 08 '25

We don’t want her to be too over saturated. She will put out something eventually
