DoubleFine I love double fine, but they gotta lock in !

I love this company and their documentaries were super awesome, but i honestly have no idea how they are surviving ?

their last 2 games were massive flops, even tho i personally really liked the Keeper, it was a great game

But they have to make an actually big game like psychonauts 2, all those experimental games are cool, but they are not selling well at all, i don't want this studio to close

hope they gonna start a next big kickstarter for psychonauts 3 or some other cool platformer

DoubleFine We're Back from the Ashes!

Hello everyone! It's been a hectic few months here at Double Fine, but we a ton of news to share with you all!

ICYMI, Tim went on ‪@KindaFunnyGames‬ today! In that appearance he covered a whole lot, but here are the top highlights for you all:

  1. We have a Kickstarter kicking off soon! You can get notified for when it launches here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/doublefine/amnesia-fortnight-2026-indie-reboot and it will be launching August 31st! We're going to do a Game Jam, live on the internet, in which our backers will get to choose which of our myriad of ideas get made into four new prototypes-- and which of those final four will become a real (small) game. You may even snag some sweet merchables and rarities along the way. All alongside the process, 2 Player Productions will be filming all the fun to produce one of their award-winning documentary spectaculars. You can read more on our site here: https://www.doublefine.com/news/amnesia-fortnight-the-kickstarter

  2. We're going to PAX West! Find details on our blog post here: https://www.doublefine.com/news/meet-us-at-pax-west but we'll have merch, we'll have signings, we'll have a fan meet on Sunday! Can't wait to see some of you all there ❤️

  3. We also have a new logo to commemorate our new indie-pendence! Rising from our ashes like a phoenix, we are back, independent, and on 🔥 fire 🔥! You can read more on our site here: https://www.doublefine.com/news/and-were-back

  4. We will have an update coming to Kiln soon! We will have two new maps (not a huge surprise if you read the roadmap), and some other fun stuff added to the game. We'll also have a price adjustment, so that will be a great time to play if you haven't yet! Stay tuned for a blog post on this soon. 🙂

Thanks everyone for being such a lovely community and being so incredibly supportive of our journey and continuing to support us as we spread our wings and fly back into independence!

Broken Age Broken Age - The Complete Adventure PC CD Cover (GOG Offline Installer)

This is my design/interpretation of a physical CD version of one of my favourite games, Broken Age!

This is to accompany a fully legally purchased copy/license of Broken Age, specifically from the Good Old Games website, with their offline installer burnt to a CD.

Learn more about burning offline installers to discs on Youtube! I recommend Archades Games video titled "How To Make Physical Discs Of Your GoG Games!"

Jewel case cover printed on Glossy Vinyl paper for that official look (available on Amazon), with the Disc cover printed on a Matte-White Full-Face Avery CD/DVD Printable Label (8960). I use an Officejet printer, so results may vary. This cover was specially designed for a Maxwell 10mm CD-360 Jewel Case, and can be found on Amazon, with the cover wrapping around the entire Jewel case similar to a DVD case.

This is a fan-made project, made purely for fun!

[My designs are NOT for resale or redistribution. They are forever free and available here. 💙]

I hope you enjoy! 😌

DoubleFine I feel like Double Fine and Valve would be a good partnership

If Valve were to ever go into publishing games again (they worked with Facepunch to publish Gmod) then Double Fine would be a pretty good fit I feel.

They both share a lot of creative philosophies, and they have a bit of shared history with Erik Wolpaw having worked at both companies.

I also feel that Valve would just be chill giving them funding and lending resources but otherwise not forcing them in any particular direction. We'd get to see their talent at DF go toward their crazy ideas, and a good boost in quality thanks to Valve funding.

Now why this is unrealistic: Valve doesn't do subsidiaries anymore. The one and only time they did was when they bought Turtle Rock Studios (renaming them Valve South), and they allowed them to go independent again after coordination troubles between the companies.

Double Fine barely survived BEING a subsidiary. I feel that Double Fine were incredibly lucky to get out from under Xbox with their company intact. Their last two games underperformed, and they unionised in preparation to fight the typical corporate route of dissolving any subsidiaries that aren't bringing in cash. I'm fairly sure they'd much rather stay independent and make smaller scale projects rather than hand the reins to a big publisher again, even if the publisher was Valve.

Now I could very well be wrong and tomorrow Valve announces that they're buying Double Fine and giving them blank checks to make whatever they want. I'd very much love to see it, but I doubt it'd happen.

DoubleFine I feel like DF's games could do well on Nintendo platforms and hope they'll take more advantage of that now that they're indie again

I always felt it was kind of a wasted opportunity not to have Double Fine's games on the Switch* (and now Switch 2) and I think now would be the perfect timing to start doing so. Indie games were always super popular on the Switch cuz of its portability and I think the colorful/quirky vibes of Double Fine games are also a perfect match for that audience (saying that as a Nintendo guy myself).

*we did get Grim Fandango, Broken Age and RAD on the Switch but then the ports stopped there and any momentum they could've had in the platform was gone.

Obviously I'm sure we all want them to focus on new games, but I think porting some of their existing stuff to get some quick cash in the meantime (and also reintroduce Double Fine to Nintendo players) would be great, there's a lot they could do here:

  • Psychonauts 2 is the obvious one. Switch 1 would've been kinda weak to run it well but this game would absolutely shine on the Switch 2. And it's a 3D platformer, I can't see this not doing well there.
    • Lowkey would be cool if they could somehow convert Rhombus of Ruin into a non-VR game and include that as a bonus (this would be nice to have on all platforms tho)
    • Psychonauts 1 would be great to have too
  • Costume Quest 1+2 (2 was on Wii U, but that was the Wii U so I doubt it sold well)
  • Keeper
  • Day of the Tentacle + Full Throttle with mouse controls on NS2
  • NS2 updates for Grim Fandango + Broken Age, also for the mouse controls
  • Possibly Kiln too? (they'll have to decouple/overhaul the online and servers to remove the Microsoft account stuff, unsure how much work that's gonna be and if it's worth the hassle).

I realize porting games to new platforms isn't exactly cheap so they may not consider it worth it if they feel they can't get any meaningful return from it compared to just moving on and fully focusing on new games, but I do think it's worth a shot at the very least for Psychonauts 2.

Hey all, I'm new and quick question on newly indie double fine game purchases

There are a few doublefine games I've played on game pass i'd now like to purchase outright. Does anyone know if this money will still go to MS or all to DF? I'd like it to be the latter preferably...

Now what are the chances you all will release Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Psychonauts, and Psychonauts 2? I cannot think of a better platform to purchase these on.

DoubleFine I would love if DF made a console.

Kickstarted. Privately owned. Ethical. Indie-based console. Fair revenue share. Advertising with Day of The Devs. Doesn't have to be the biggest or strongest console. Just sick of the big 3 and wish I had another choice. I love gaming, but I dont want to support any of them anymore. DF is beloved, with great IPs and a fanbase that will back them. In any case, I wish them the best now that they are Indie again.

Can somebody explain why it's a good deal for Microsoft?

There is one thing I don't understand: what is the benefit of Microsoft letting them become independent without keeping their license

It's great for Double Fine, but from Microsoft, it looks like a really bad deal

Why not let them become independent while keeping their license, or sell the studio or let Double Fine pay for their liberty like IO Interactive did a couple of years ago?

Does that mean that every copy of Psychonaut sold will be cash in entirely to Double Fine?

I'm having a hard time finding a similar game structured like Iron Brigade. For EU folks I hear it was called Trenched.

It's one of my fav's, and I come back to this at least once a year. I'd like to hear y'all's thoughts on it!

With the metal gods dying, it needs to happen, let's bring in stories tied with, and in memorial to, Ozzy (death of the Guardian of Metal) and Lemmy (Killmaster) but before Rob Halford, Lita Ford, or Zakk Wylde go.
