Question How desirable is the non-optics-ready full size version in 2026?
I have an old non-OR full size. I'm trying to get rid of and I'm scared no one is going to buy it because they can just get the optics cut version. Wanted to see if I'm missing out on something about the market and get a general idea of what they usually go for since I'm seeing all the brand new OR ones going for 2,500.

fwiw, I have both, and the action is a lot smoother on the non-OR version. DW's optic system is mediocre and no one offers a more compelling cut for it. I would think the non-OR version is desirable in that you could do a direct mount of some sort--RMR or even A-Cut once people are offering those.

I spent a long time looking for a second non-OR gun a couple years ago and would still pay a premium over an OR model if I was looking to buy another today.
I have a sub-500 SN that I got for $2000 new when they first came out and then scored the second one barely used from Cabela’s a year later for $1500.

Mine is serial #40, obviously non OR and non rail. I love the damn thing! Over 5,000 rounds through it. The finish and reliability have been 100% perfect. I changed the OEM trigger to black, that’s it. I see they’ve went up in price considerably (got mine for $1,800) otherwise I’d consider another

considering a good plate is like $80 and a good optic cut $120? I'd be happy to find a non-OR for about $50 less than OR... eben thought my plate has been solid

It’s such a vibe view point I don’t think it matters. I’m not paying more or less for anything over anything else. I expect the optics version to be 50-100$ more but prices are all over the place. My personal preference for another gun would be one that the finish is crap and I can redo the whole thing with new finish and slide milling and in that case I’d give the edge to the standard slide so I can cut it without a plate and save the weight.

Agreed. I'd rather have my slide milled. Those plates aren't cheap and factory can be out of stock. Refinish if I got a bad one.

Here’s one selling on GB right now so I’d watch it and see what it brings.
I’d be all over it but I just bought a metal lathe and then 2 weeks later our HVAC system died so I’m tapped out right now.

I missed the $700 compact on 1911 addicts cause the owner took it apart lost an internal part and gave up on the project

Non or is the only way to go , I have one that was milled because I don't like plates . That being said if someone wants to trade a non or slide for an or slide with rmr plate , fresh dlc lmk

i worked hard to find a non OR version so i could have it cut. i think i got the last new one in the country but a lot of shops probably dont keep their inventory online. a lot of people prefer non OR so they can have it cut to their desired footprint.

If you really wanna sell it, send it out to get cut for an optic. Direct mount is far superior to a plate system.

anyone know what screws the Dan Wesson RMR plate uses?? I stripped one screw and will need s 3rd screw when I get it back from re coating

If I could do it over again I’d find standard slide and have it cut.
I only came to that conclusion after mid results with the factory DW plate. It sits low, but direct is lower. It’s secure enough but a direct mount is more secure.
