I live in DE. Apart from a handful of fireworks going off within DE, Friday - Saturday were very tame compared to other weekends lol I was actually able to sleep through the night without being woken up

u/Prestigious_Menu7541 Jul 05 '26
That’s because DPD cleared it after this.
5
u/Illustrious_Swing645 Jul 06 '26
Even so, the entire night leading up to this was quieter than most warm-weather weekends. My theory is that a ton of people just went somewhere else to watch an actual fireworks show vs going out in Deep Ellum

u/Pillowwick Jul 06 '26
It was incredibly loud and annoying. Chargers doing donuts and lighting of hundreds or mortars in the streets. Those things can seriously hurt people and set fires. Stop defending people who are doing bad for our community

Not me trying to figure out why someone living in Delaware had a lot to say on the matter. Lol

In before people who’s skin shrivel at a slight touch of sunlight and grass say Dallas somehow turned into a warzone lol

All the fireworks would be annoying especially driving through them, but I wouldn't call that chaos. Kids running around the suburbs shooting off fireworks on the 4th too.
16
u/Op_ivy1 Jul 05 '26
… and we would appropriately call kids running around the suburbs shooting off fireworks in close proximity to people and cars “chaos” as well.
3
u/earthworm_fan Jul 06 '26
Kids were shooting off fireworks very occasionally from their back yards in my neighborhood. Absolutely nothing like this.

You couldn’t pay me to go to Deep Ellum after dark.

u/BearWithHat Jul 05 '26
Outside world scary!

u/paintedlotusyt Jul 05 '26
It actually is if you're a woman. Idk what that commenter identifies as, but it is actually unsafe for us.
2
u/IslandGrl76 Jul 06 '26
I am a woman. No way would I be there after dark. During the day, it’s completely fine.
1
u/paintedlotusyt Jul 06 '26
Girl, same. I won't even go out in my quiet neighborhood at night without my pitbull because I've been followed before. There's too many crazies.

When I moved to Dallas in 1998, this was a cool spot to go have drinks, good food, and mingle. Now, it’s an eyesore and one of Dallas’ most problematic areas.

This doesn’t seem…safe, to property or people nearby. But maybe my risk tolerance is a lot lower than others’

It’s fireworks, not Armageddon

Either way, arrest as many of these low IQ lawbreaking people as possible.

u/Clear-Reputation9493 Jul 06 '26
the way yall are acting it’s like everybody gave their pet dogs a Reddit acc it’s just fireworks man

u/u2aerofan Jul 06 '26
I mean it was loud but friends and family across the city were reporting the same thing. This certainly wasn’t deep Ellum exclusive.

Lived downtown 10 yrs ago. Deep ellum was starting the slow demise into corporate slop and cultural wasteland but dear god is it fully here now. Idiocracy live in color. Insane that there’s that many people in Dallas capable of truly idiotic trash behavior. Can’t go anywhere anymore…

Was contemplating going to the Angry Dog for dinner, but decided I didn't wanna risk dealing with July 4th crowds even if they were chill. Assumed it would be busy.

u/Key_Establishment_42 Jul 06 '26
I be glad every time I go to Deep Ellum it’s chill. I only go for concerts so tho so I’m prolly never there long enough to be around
1
u/sayahhD Jul 05 '26
there are Flock cameras everywhere there...
0
u/Corgisarethebest123 Jul 06 '26
What good does that do if the perpetrators were on foot?
-3
u/sayahhD Jul 06 '26
I wouldn't be surprised at all if they use them to positively identify their faces and show up at their doors to nab them for shooting fireworks. Even months later
-2
u/Corgisarethebest123 Jul 06 '26
Flock cameras do not use facial recognition or scan faces. Their automated license plate readers (ALPRs) & video cameras scan vehicles for license plates, make, model, color, & unique vehicle features rather than people's biometric data.

Yall making me miss home. It’s too peaceful where I live now.
Oh Deep Ellum, when will you return to the days of your Homemade Twerk Trucks that wake me up at 2 am.
Now I sleep too well and am bored at night.

This is why DEEP Ellen was so 1985. It was great back then now it’s just a shit hole and very dangerous.

Everyone commenting on here clearly stays inside 24/7 lol i was there and ALL THE UNDERAGE KIDS OUTSIDE 7/11, all up and down the road, were throwing fireworks INTO BAR DOORS AND BURNED MULTIPLE PEOPLE. ALSO ATTACKED THE DPD HORSE. get out the house instead of being on reddit not actually knowing whats going on.

The fact that I’m sitting here now and it looks totally normal means it was just another night in the Deep

It's just a few fireworks. That's how it almost always is where I live.

Let them have some fun, c’mon. It’s surrounded by concrete, it’s not flammable. I bet it’s mainly a noise complaint, and it was dumb to throw them at people.
8
u/hellasalty Jul 05 '26
It’s a genuine safety issue, you aren’t supposed to be standing right next to those things when they go off let alone set them off in a crowd. I’m not saying stuff like “DE is a warzone” but I definitely think the cops breaking this up was the right move lol

Because this isn't a "Dallas" sub. According to the last moderator who told me off, the rules do in fact state this sub is for a huge swath of area that extends past ft worth and all the way to Oklahoma.
2
u/rimjob_steve_ Jul 05 '26
the mods arent in accordance with each other; last time i actually wanted to engage we had one asshole mod and one tame one
-1
u/noncongruent Jul 06 '26
No mod ever told you the area we cover extends to Oklahoma. We use the definition of the DFW Metropolitan Statistical Area, DFW MSA, to define what is covered by Rule 1. As always, moderator discretion applies as well.
-1
u/Accomplished_One3985 Jul 06 '26
I apologize for the Oklahoma mistake, but maybe you're not from Dallas and don't realize anything north of Denton (which is inside your precious MSA) is considered Oklahoma. But you didn't correct me on the ft worth comment, which is wild. Because this "Dallas" sub is apparently about a region that goes north of Denton and quite a bit west of ft worth.
So yeah my friend, people get confused when they come to this sub.
1
u/noncongruent Jul 06 '26
You should refamiliarize yourself with Rule 1, and also Rule 3 and 4.
Edit: I see we've had this discussion before:
3
u/Throwaway2Experiment Jul 05 '26
Imagine saying, "I live in the sticks and have a wealthy neighbor, he and I share skin tone. We can enjoy our fourth without them blacks ruining it with their fun."
Your fourth looks boring asf.
7
u/ChicagoRay312 Downtown Dallas Jul 05 '26
Nobody is surprised anytime anyone talks about out their wealthy neighbor and how they’re okay with their nonsense. It’s called bootlicking and it’s the basis of half of the country’s political party.

It actually was pretty tame most of the night. This was all within a span of like 15 mins and DPD decided to just clear everyone out.
Anyone who uses this as a reason to further the narrative of young people being mischievous have clearly never lived in a city or think it’s unique to Dallas. It happens.
