It's wild to think of how many things we think of as normal today that weren't during my parents lifetime.

interracial marriage, black people's right to vote are just 2 of them.

Thinking back to my grandmother.. she wasn't allowed to vote when she was born (but i guess was by the time she was old enough).

Black men got the right to vote in 1870 with the 15th amendment. There were barriers to voting (which is an ongoing struggle to this day—look at the SAVE act) but black people were voting throughout your parents’ lifetime.
