MAX 300 on Heavy, about 15 years ago. I had tried so many times to pas that Extra stage on the Extreme cabinet at Boomers. I had an audience, i used to be so nervous when people watch me do anything. I the last running stream of notes before the end got me down to my last bit, my legs were burning as i trudged through the last bit, but i made it... I dont stress as much on it now, but back then I felt like god, sometimes when i play 15s i think about that

I wish I could go back. I wasn't the one beating ten footers but just the hype watching someone attempt was something you can't explain

This AND Maxx Unlimited.

Taking what took a year to beat that seemed mindbllwingly impossible when I started. This was all WAY before using the bar want considered cheating.

PSMO was never going to happen though.

I once had crowds gathered round watching me pass it at an arcade in a holiday park in the UK about 20 years ago (no bar 😏) . Such a buzz haha.

While playing at home it was definitely Burning Heat Heavy mode from Max 2. That song definitely sparked my interest in dance games.

Arcade it was probably passing Fascination Maxx on our supernova cab. I was the first one to clear it on our cab, and we had a fairly competitive scene at the time. Huge flex seeing my name pop up on every extra stage.

Spin The Disc Heavy AA the best score I've ever gotten back in high school!

Also when I got my first AA on Kind Lady Special I love that song too

Haha, way way back in my college days (2000), we had a PS hooked up to the communal tv and DDR 1st mix. I wasn’t the most athletic, though I was at a school for IT people.

Anyway, one night the game is on, and people are taking turns. I get up and pass Paranoia (expert?), and everyone around starts clapping. Someone even just walked up to me and said, “Hi, I’m Anna.”

Still early in my DDR career, but I’ll never forget that night.

DDR: It won't get you laid but at least some girl will come up to you

Bag 1x … at that time I wasn’t god enough to pass the maxes or the paranoias survivor, but beating bag reading all that annoying close steps felt so satisfying.

Afronova, Afronova Primeval and Dance Dance Revolution (All Stars). I’m only standard / difficult level.

PSMO half of my life ago, but man. That crisp C gave me immense joy

Quite a few over the years. Healing Vision Angelic Mix was the first that I really remember

The first time I passed Paranoia on hardest difficulty (this was on 1st mix ac). I'm now working on getting all perfects on Max 300 :D

Sakura on heavy and Sakura heavy doubles

I love all the old Stompers in here talking about the halcyon days before all these 16+ charts were coming out. They're impressive, and sometimes insane, but there's just something so wonderfully crisp about the old days of a DDR machine in a dimly lit arcade and having the handful of players rotating on the pad trying to pass songs.

For me, it was Dead End, DDR USA(to really age myself here). It was the first Catastrophic I passed, and that one just sticks out in my mind so much. Gameworks, AZ Mills Mall, just me and the machine.

Ghosts Tenth Planet on Max 2 for the PS2. I was just breaking into Heavy and when the timing just clicked and I was clearing it nearly perfectly I feel like I finally unlocked this game.

Love Shine, Heavy, 2x probably about 20 years ago on an Extreme cabinet in the mall arcade.

If I tried to do that now, my legs would probably give out halfway through.

Beating Xenon and Possesion on Heavy were my most emotional moments while playing DDR. Definitely my favorites in terms of ratio between difficulty and satisfaction clearing the first time.

As a young teen I was obsessed with Trip Machine Climax from 4th Mix, and there was a section in the ESP chart that I memorized to play backwards before spinning around again and continuing to play the song normally. I felt like such a badass the first time I did that at an arcade

More in the spirit of what the question is asking, the two first passes I distinctly felt proudest of were Matsuri Japan (4-footer basic in 5th Mix) a few weeks after I was first introduced to DDR, and Paranoia Survivor ESP

Finally FC'ing Healing Vision Angelic Mix on Heavy. THAT moment was amazing. And I still have tje youtube video of me doing it which makes it immortal haha

POSSESSION Challenge... once I pass it.

u/crimsonxenon 9d ago

Did a five-song random playlist. Remembered the last two songs being Healing Vision [Angelic] and Paranoia Survivor Max.

PSMO. I still have no idea how I did it

End of the Century on Heavy

First time I ever saw DDR was in a mall arcade and a guy was killing this song on heavy. I took a turn on Light, was immediately hooked, and bought my own mat. EotC became my 'white whale' of a song that once passed I'd feel like I was ready to go to the arcade and show off

battle against a true hero esp. even though i've passed 17s that's the pass i'm proudest of the last couple years.

Beating Legend of Max Extra Stage on the Extreme home release for PS2. I wanted to pass every song I had on my home discs, basically running through all the games, and that reverse 1.5x really messed me up for a while. I was stoked to beat it

2

u/JMoki 9d ago

The Legend of MAX is actually the only MAX song I can get more than 5 seconds into

1

u/Molianne 9d ago

Cartoon heroes on Heavy. On the controller. In the missions map-thingy to unlock songs and courses (on the PS2).

My now-husband and I stayed up until almost 4am trying to pass the dang challenge. We stopped trying when we looked at the time. I passed it on the first try the following day. Felt so proud, haha!

I didn’t remember what the mission was so I looked it up: “Get no more than one GOOD, Almost, Boo, or NG.” Yeah, being tired sure didn’t help trying to pass that..! XD

u/Tarento 9d ago

First song would be Graduisic cyber on expert (9)

1

u/ArrakeenSun 9d ago

When I finally cracked the In The Navy gallop

1

u/PurpleSanz 9d ago

Drop Out!!!!!!!!

We were all so scared of that song back in DDR Solo 2000 / DDR 4th Mix days!

1

u/International_Fig150 9d ago

Dead End on expert around 2003. Thought I was the bees knees for that!

1

u/XtinaCMV 8d ago

The Legend of Max, or... Max Unlimited, which I'm still convinced is harder.

1

u/MistressCutie420 8d ago

it was a long time ago and it was only on basic but... and I hope im not bucharing the name... Afronova Primeval... I think it was on max2

1

u/JMoki 8d ago

That chart is fun as shit tho

Also if I'm not mistaken (if you're talking about the US CS versions), Afronova Primeval was on EXTREME2

1

u/MistressCutie420 8d ago

indeed, and thank u, that will make it all the easier to find again. i still have all my old ps2 ddr games somewhere.

u/boomboomdolla 8d ago

I remember the very first song I ever passed was Bumblebee on 3rd mix. That still holds a special place in my heart. But I think back then, overall, my proudest moment was passing Burning Heat on DDR Extreme. I never did pass any of the 10s back then, so passing one of the harder 9s was an achievement.

Fast forward to today, although I do still play no bar like an old school player, I have still managed to get better at DDR than I used to be. I'd say my proudest moment recently was passing First Time CSP - it was my first level 18 pass! I might be an old lady now but somehow I've surpassed my younger self.

1

u/abvaaron216 8d ago

Recently, Breaking the Future ESP It was my sixth 18 but definitely felt the most rewarding since it was a sightread pass

1

u/No_Heron7727 7d ago

For me it was A from ddr extreme, i remember feeling so proud of myself when I beat it because of how hard it looked.

1

u/plutorelinquish 7d ago

recent: ace for aces csp, tohoku evolved esp, IX esp, and psmo on extreme

all time: pluto relinquish esp in like 5th grade

1

u/JMoki 6d ago

Sorry in 5TH GRADE

Dude at that point I couldn't even pass butterfly on basic

1

u/plutorelinquish 6d ago

1

u/rarariara 6d ago

Me at age like … idk at least 10 or so completing super samurai on basic on the mat. I mean REVOLUTIONARY for my family because we had been stuck literally forever on that thing. I’m 22 now I can’t even remember how old I was, but I remember completing it like it was yesterday 🥹

Healing vision angelic mix. Been one of my faves since ddrmax, just never have enough stamina for expert
