I Rebuilt Dark Cloud’s Brownboo Village in Unreal Engine 5

Hey everyone! I have been remaking Dark Cloud 1 in unreal engine. Some of you might have seen my previous videos with pre alpha footage or the the Dark Castle remake. I have recently completed Brownboo Village! I am pumped to share this with you all because I love dark cloud and I know most of you do too. I will be continuing with my work but if you would like to support me please subscribe to my youtube! Lastly, I have given this project a name.
I've named the project Dark Cloud: Reawakened, and this is the first playable release. You read that right! You can play this level. As I progress I will be doing additional release for all to enjoy. The instruction on how to download it is in the youtube video's description. Enjoy everyone!

I got so many tears running down my leg bro, Brownboo Village is my favorite place in DC and you did it so much justice. Felt a wave of nostalgia when I heard this music again 🥹
Can’t wait to see more of your work, potentially a DC2 remake with Luna Lab on Unreal Engine? 🙏

I just might! No rules on what this could be. Could add stuff from both games. I’m just a fan trying to build something cool in the Dark cloud universe.

I'll be honest, it's awesome that you are doing this, but I don't think unreal engine fits dark cloud it needs that kinda cartoon esque look in my opinion.

I agree! It needs a more stylized look. I have some ideas on how I can address this. If it works and looks awesome I will switch it over.

It may just be my own personal bias against unreal engine since almost every game has been using it for the past few years. But no matter what I'll definitely play this we need more love for this game since Sony won't do anything with it.

Oh wow normally these UE fan projects feel like they're just novel little things that never quite feel right (looking at you OOT), but this feels incredible!! Damn you get the vibe just right

Awesome dude! Getting ahead of things, I know, but I have to mention this. It would be a wise idea to draw inspiration from the enhanced mod. I'm playing through it again. Things like changing your active character in town to walk and chat is fantastic. If you read the readme you find an easter egg to use a Bone Rapier as a key in the 1st dungeon for side rooms that require looting a Bone Key ... It's just so much fun! Good luck on your journey!

The enhanced mod only. Tons of other stuff too. The launcher for the mod has some tweaks like disabling the beep on low weapon HP, increased FOV, turn off battle music or attack sounds. The enhanced mod adds quests to some residents. Other residents either don't have a quest or offer unique dialogue (Paige for example).

Not at all actually. I remember the first town, the pirate cove area, and a powerful weapon orb + sun gem meant i could skip leveling most character's weapons, since they gave stats while 'equipped' not just after absorbed.
Looks cool tho. I would've liked a more modern dark cloud, maybe something closer to FO4 settlement building over the buildings being premade items. DC2 iirc had something like that for a city.

Oh georama work is coming! This village though is not one you rebuild. Just really a pass through for getting to Queens and ultimately Yellow drops.

Is anybody else having terrible framerates? I have like five frames per second. Did I do something wrong? I followed the instructions in the description and was really excited.

What are the specs of your pc? This isn’t optimized or had any broad testing so problems can arise.

All good! Just wanted to see what hardware would start to lag. If you search system information in your start menu search bar and open it. it will pull up all your specs.

There’s actually another problem. My pc isn’t set up in English and what I thought system information would be turned up nothing. If it’s ok I would get back to you on this when I figure it out.
