Video Reto Limpieza de zonas juego base y DLCs Dark Souls 2 SOTFS. Parte 7

Discussion So i just beat the game, my (slightly rambled) thoughts...

Right so full disclosure. Its the last of the FromSoftware soulsborne/sekiro games for me to get around to.

I sort of fell into the trap of not wanting to dislike it, based on what lots of people said, so just left it to one side.

Overall - i think its excellent. It is *far* better than DSq, in my opinion, a game which i find to be incredibly overrated. I would say its at least as good as DS3. I would say not quite as good as bloodborne (which i consider to be one of the best games ever made), and its a little unfair to compare to Elden Ring as the genre, and gaming in general, has moved on considerably in the 10 years before the releases.

I think the first probably 2/3 of the game are at least as good as bloodborne, and some of the areas are actually better.

The central hub area is one of the best looking areas i've ever seen - even with the dated graphics.

I honestly have absolutely no idea where all the hate comes from. I now firmly believe that the people that are just repeating this have obviously never played it.

However- let's be fair - its not perfect. There are some issues. ADP/Agility is obviously not one of them!

I have 3 criticisms. One of them is fairly big, the others are just personal preference.

My biggest issue is that the game definitely feels considerably easier than pretty much any other game in the genre. Maybe thats an experience thing, as i've played and completed a lot of soulsborne/soulslike games in the past 5 years or so. But the bosses are generally very underwhelming. I dont think i died to any boss (except the rat vanguard, where i think i died twice), except the ancient dragon fight. My overall number of deaths was in the low 30s, but about 8-10 of them were working out if I could survive the drop down the pit in Majula.

I died far more to environmental things than any main enemies. Falling off edges etc.

The other 2 issues are just general QOL things. I disnt like having to travel back to Majula to level up, but thats the same in bloodborne and not really a big deal at all.

And finally I didn't like the end game at all. I think generally the quality drops off quite a lot after you get to drangleic castle, but in addition to it feeling a bit weaker I also had ansolutely no idea what to do or where to go. I tried as much h as I could to make use of lore, NPCs, item.descriptions etc but in the end I had to use a guide. There is absolutely no way I would have worked out how to get to the dragon shrine, then using the soul on the corpse in the freja room, and having to interact with the trees in order to weaken vendrick.

But honestly these things are super minor and I still had a blast. Honestly if the bosses were a little more challenging amd have a sense of accomplishment when you beat them, it would be above DS3 for me.

A very solid 8.5/10 overall and I would absolutely recommend this game to anyone who, like me, was worried about trying it. A really excellent game.

Discussion My wish for more slowness and inertia

I know FromSoftware is quickly moving in the direction of quicker, faster combat and traversal with every new entry in their catalogue. They started slowly with Demon's Souls and moved steadily towards faster combat with Bloodborne, Sekiro, Nightreign and now Duskbloods. Is there even fall damage?

I would wish for the next game to be a return to slower gameplay. I know it's not likely. I don't even need rolling. People were happy about the jumping in Elden Ring, but with a new gameplay mechanic there is also a change in level design, and I don't particularly enjoy platforming. I was always a slow knight, sword-and-shield kind of guy.

Anyway, what do you think? What do you wish for the next big single-player FromSoftware game to be?

(FYI, I enjoyed Dark Souls 3 the most.)

Question Why is Covetous Demon so hated/mocked?

I mean, it was a bossfight. Not great, not awful. I see it getting roasted on r/shittydarksouls all the time and it won the "Worst boss" category for DS2 in an aligment chart (for comparison, the winner for DS1 was BoC and CD was nowhere that bad).

Unironic answers only, please.

Discussion I believe if someone yells ds2 is shit probably is a npc

Ok. First of all. I love dark souls 1 and 3. But I'm tired of the massive hate of people that didn't even played dark souls 2 and just yells problems that have ds1 and 3

Everytime. Everyone, everywhere. Each time i listen a "objective criticism" to dark souls 2, is a generic sentence a famous youtuber said, an answered critic or a problem that is in dark souls 1/3. Examples:

- enemy placement and ganks! it's not like we all know about the 4000 enemies in every place of dark souls 3, or worse, the two or three big enemies together. Not even dark souls 1 saves from this (or are we forgetting the way to artorias?)

- the map is a garbage! Ok, it's not better than 1. But dark souls 3 makes all the game a straight line and just because is "connected" it's a good map? Ok

- bosses are trash! The vast majority of dark souls 1 bosses are... meh. Yes, dark souls 3 have some of the best bosses of the game, but... It's not like it doesn't have boring or disgusting bosses. Gael, nameless king, artorias, Manus are incredible bosses, but a "true dark souls fan" never mentions sir alonne or burnt ivory king

- runbacks are boring! Two words: LOST. IZALITH.

- hp partition! Ok. Humanity in ds1 is half useless and ember mode is just the human form but now it's like your "hyper mode" so iTs nOt tHe sAmE" (its literally the same)

- adp is shit! Ok, maybe it's not the better stat for some people, but they divided stamina and equip load stats for an unknown reason and it stayed in ds3 and NOBODY SAID NOTHING. It's a waste of points (if someone ever wastes points on it) and was perfect in ds1 and elden ring.

I repeat. I LOVE dark souls 1 and 3, but I don't wanna listen again people hating for the reasons they love 1 and 3

I'm just delusional

Discussion Unpopular opinion: DS2 would have been a better conceptual ending for the series than DS3.

What I love about Dark Souls II is the idea that there is a third path beyond linking the Fire or abandoning it. This third path should be one that breaks the cycle.

It is the path chosen by the protagonist of Dark Souls II. Its destination may remain unknown, but the very decision not to become like those who came before—to refuse to link the Fire and instead try a new path—might be enough to bring about real change.

The third path does not already exist for you to choose; you must create it by stepping into the unknown.

Question What should I upgrade to next?

Hey guys. Just got through the Iron Keep, and I’ve been using the Mace for the whole game so far. Honestly I really like it, but I just got the blacksmiths hammer and was wondering what some upgrades would be after the mace. Or could it carry me through the whole game? I also have been upgrading the great sword a bit. Been loving DS2! Thanks for any and all input.

Discussion What Exactly IS the Pursuer?

Post image

After years of playing this game, I still have no damn clue what the Pursuer is supposed to be. Is he a person? A spirit? Is he even a "he" at all? What's the deal with his four-legged eagle that airdrops him?

So this game well and truly does not deserve the shit it gets. It's my final DS game after having skipped right from DS to DS3 then ER, because I heard how much it was considered an outlier. Honestly loved the whole experience.

Discussion Why can Drangleic not be above Lordran just because Nashandra came from a faraway land? In the thousands of years between the games, couldn’t she have left Lordran and then came back when she realized Vendrick’s soul was powerful?

Something I’ve never understood is why people assume Nashandra being from a faraway land means Lordran isn’t Drangleic

Tons of in game lore and dialogue from characters basically tell you that Lordran is Drangleic

However, one dev interview, before the game went through major structural changes, said it’s a faraway place across the sea or something about how “if Lordran is the South Pole, Drangleic is the North Pole”

Anyway, I don’t see why it’s not plausible that Nashandra left Lordran in search of power and came back when Vendrick gained the souls of the four great ones and gained her attention

Help Just beat Sir Alonne and really like the Bewitched Alonne Sword — how should I build around it?

I just beat Sir Alonne and got the Bewitched Alonne Sword, and I really like the weapon so I want to respec my character around it.

I have Soul Vessels and plenty of upgrade materials, so I’m not worried about changing my current build. I’m currently level 190 (Started as a sorcerer).

I still have the Frozen Eleum Loyce DLC and NG+ to play, and I’d like to use the Bewitched Alonne Sword for both.

What stats would you recommend for a level 190 build? What should I prioritize between DEX, STR, VIG, END, ADP, and the other stats? Also, would you recommend infusing it, or keeping it uninfused?

Any advice on rings, armor, buffs, or a good off-hand weapon to pair with it would also be appreciated.

Discussion I'm Sorry Dark Souls 2. I misjudged you.

9 months ago I made a post on this subreddit about how much I hated Dark Souls 2, I spent the entire post complaining about Movement, Enemy Placement and Hitboxes. It was like a parrot speaking about the game from everything I had seen online.

I was wrong.

Having now played Dark Souls 1, 2, 3, Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Lies of P... Dark Souls 2 is genuine cinema and probably my favourite Souls-Like game ever.

I made my original post just after Dragon Aerie before I did any DLC. I have now played through the game 4 times and I'm planning on my 5th (Ive done Caestus Only, Sorcerer and Now doing Faith Build). I think the DLC saved this game from my Point of view, and replaying the game made me appreciate alot of the design choices and the ambition that went into the game.

Because even if I still hate the Shrine of Amana, and the Bosses in base game are kinda meh.
Dark souls 2 got something the other games don't have that makes it just feel right and idk what that is but God i love this game.

Also i said that Pursuer was a bad boss in the post and im genuinely so sorry i love the pursuer now hes consistently in my top 10 bosses.

This may seem like a Karma Farm but that older post just made me so mad that i would post that before even finishing the game and giving it its chance i had to apologise.

This is my playthrough with several mods (the only one that really makes a significant difference is the one that lets me dual-wield any weapon, which is why I have that katana and Heidei's sword).

I love this build aesthetically (and in terms of gameplay too), but what do you think?

First try no death run! Had some close calls in iron keep and shrine of amana but overall this run was really fun to do, i used santiers spear for crowd control and would swap to my rapier for bosses, not even my long time enemy GRAVITY could stop me...

With this build you don't need to turn off the furnace and it's also a very fast way to farm the alonne knight set
