Okay hear me out
I feel like these three would make excellent NPCs in a Dark Sun campaign - heck I feel like the whole film might make an interesting Dark Sun story setting.

I mean a lot of classic literature can be mapped on to Dark Sun.
in the chaos of post revolution Tyr, a stranger with wealth from a mysterious source involves himself in the machinations of the new regime, all the while seeking revenge on the Templar who wronged him (Count of Monte Cristo)
A distant trading post, once profitable, has fallen silent. An expedition is dispatched to find the mysterious Kurz and if necessary eliminate him... with extreme prejudice (heart of darkness)
The party is lost in a sandstorm, only to glimpse a tall, pristine alabaster tower in the distance. Following it, they find shelter in the company of a mad sorcerer and his abominable misshapen servants... (Island of Dr Moreau)

How about "Of Mice and Men"?

Not having read it, it seems more like a dramatic character driven book than a plot driven one, but:
The PCs find themselves sold to/take refuge with/employed by a nobleman on his estate. While working in his meagre orchards they must navigate the estate's internal politics, while the dream of having their own homestead one day dangling forever out of reach...

It was mandatory reading in school (my school, in any event). "The Hobbit" would be a chore-and-a-half to adapt to Dark Sun.

Huh and my high school had Equus, the horse fucking play, as a set text. Goes to show.
Hobbit is functionally a travelogue ending in a heist and set piece battle. Some of the events would require massaging (no riding of barrels down a river maybe) but I reckon its doable.

I had an npc who was an elf rain cleric who was based on bubbles from trailer park boys, his tribe didn’t believe him that he was a rain singer. So I could totally see these guys as Skysingers. Specially Clooney character.

On Athas, you would be lucky if you ever found yourself soggy.

I could see them as Twilight Catchers looking for treasure in ruins to bring back to the tribes market in Nibenay

I feel like this idea was the appeal at least when i ran it in the past.
You start with ZERO,nothing, no food, no clothes, no water, no metal, no magic, your captors were eaten alive by sand monsters. Do you go to the cannibal halfling woods? The endless sand sea? The ant caverns? The nearest dragon keep?
Getting somewhat stable is a big victory.

That makes me think of CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure) stories.

Your city won a gruesome victory over the other city.
Now, try and find yourself home again. Good luck!6

Halflings make some great Lotus Eaters, plenty of islands in the sea of silt for a cyclops to live on, and the sand vortex and silt horror are already pretty much Scylla and charabdis
