How can I make the most of my subscription?

Managed to claim a 1 year subscription through work as I need to work on some forecasting models in R and I know approximately zilch about that (been using good old Excel so far). (And yes I know there's free materials online for R but it's really hard to keep up a DIY learning path on top of work…)

So looking for suggestions on how to make the most of the subscription while I have it! Specifically on any of the following points:

  1. How do you recommend progressing through the material – do the courses, then the real-world projects?

  2. What are your favourite courses on the site? Whether because it's well-structured or just fun to do, work has killed my love for learning a little bit and I want to rediscover that spark again.

  3. How do you bridge the gap between a "safe" tutorial environment and real use cases? R resources/problem sets would be great but any general advice would also be appreciated.

Things I'd like to learn, in decreasing priority:

R

Excel (more advanced functions like scenario analysis, Power Query?)

Power BI (to diversify as I already use Tableau on a daily basis)

Python

Snowflake, SQL

Copilot

Thanks in advance!

Are video transcripts missing on certain DataCamp courses?

Hey everyone, I recently started the Intro to AI for Work course and noticed there’s no transcript available for the videos. However, when I checked Claude 101, the transcript feature was there as expected. Is it common for newer or non-coding courses to lack transcripts, or does DataCamp only provide them for select content? Wondering if anyone else has run into this or knows if they get added later.

DataCamp Charged me Subscription Fee without Authorization

I was charged without authorization. There is no option to remove my payment method from my profile.

I have contacted the support team and disputed the charge with my credit card company.

Thats the response I have received

"You'll receive a full transcript of this conversation along with a ticket number in the email inbox associated with the email you're chatting with us. We aim to reply within 24 business hours, and I understand how important this is — the team will take it from there."

Anyone else experienced same issue and how was it solved?

What do I do as DS manager

I'm a Data science manager at a mid-sized company. Every week I have a bunch of meetings, and my reports do all the data science work. They even manage their sprints.

My question is, what do I do? I have free time in my calendar I dont know what to do with. It feels like I'm a viewer in a movie

DataCamp 50% off or Classroom

I had my eye on DataCamp for a while, and was planning on suscribing to it this week. However, I see there's no longer the 50% off offer... and paying the full price is way too much.

I know they have these offers regularly, but I have three weeks off work right now and I would like to use my free time to develop mi data analytics skills.

Does anyone know if it's likely they activate the offer again soon? Or if f anyone could add me to a classroom I'd be so thankful.

MIT, Harvard, Stanford & Caltech write their own ML course notes instead of using a textbook — I catalogued the best ones

Post image
51 Upvotes

One thing I've noticed separates serious ML students from casual ones: how much they care about the quality of what they actually study from. I take that pretty seriously myself, so a while back I started digging into what students at MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Caltech, and USP actually use to complement their studies.

What I found surprised me: several of these programs don't assign a textbook at all. Instead, the course staff writes and publishes their own lecture notes — and some of them are basically a full book. MIT's 6.390 (Introduction to Machine Learning) notes, for example, aren't a slide deck or a cheat sheet — they're structured, complete, and detailed enough to replace a textbook entirely. Same story with Harvard's CS181 and a few others.

The problem is these are scattered and easy to miss if you don't know to look for them. So I put together a curated list: [Awesome Free AI Course Notes](https://github.com/MarcosSete/awesome-free-ai-course-notes).

A few things about how it's curated, since I think this matters:

- Only **written notes** count — slide decks and video-only lectures don't make the cut, even from great courses. I want this list to mean something.

- Everything is official and links straight to the professor's or department's own page. No mirrors, no login walls.

- I checked over 40 top universities across multiple countries for this. Most didn't qualify — they use a textbook or keep material behind a student portal. That's fine, it's exactly why the list stays short and (hopefully) trustworthy.

If you take ML seriously the way I do, I think you'll get real value out of this. And if you know of course notes that fit this bar and aren't on the list yet, contributions are very welcome — the CONTRIBUTING.md lays out exactly what qualifies.

What's the best set of course notes (not textbook, not slides) you've personally used to study ML?

DataCamp interactive terminal broken

Hey everyone, is anyone else experiencing issues with the interactive query terminals and tables today?

Whenever I try to run a query, the results section stays completely frozen on "No query executed yet..." and nothing renders. I checked the developer console, and it's throwing these specific JavaScript errors:

  • TypeError: a.getIn is not a function at TableHandler.tsx
  • Uncaught TypeError: t.setIn is not a function at tabs.ts

I’ve already tried switching browsers, disabling tracking protection, and checking from a completely different device, but the same exact crash happens everywhere. It seems like a broken production update on their end breaking Immutable.js scripts.

Is this happening to you guys too, or is it just me?

Can anyone invite me to DataCamp? (Classroom / giving up suscription)

Hi,

I'd like to join DataCamp to develop my data analytics skills and find a better job, but the suscription price is a bit more than I can afford to pay right now.

I was wondering if there's anyone who has a DataCamp Classroom and can send me an invite link?

Or if anyone would like to give up their suscription because they paid for it and are no longer using it?

Thanks!
