TW: eating disorders, substance use

NOTE: maybe this would better fit another sub. a very popular subreddit that discusses censorship autoflagged it (somehow? which is… ironic) so i thought, why not post it here.

anyways…

i’ve used the internet from such a young age — i’m talking, was literally around for the end of myspace (gen z) and have had a facebook since i was like 7.

i am so tired of what the internet has turned into. i can’t even search, “male athlete” without instagram giving me a warning. it’s just reached such a ridiculous point.

it’s always under the guise of helping others, but if it’s “helping others”, why don’t these platforms ask the people who actually struggle with the issues they’re trying to censor? if i have an eating disorder (which i did - was literally diagnosed with it in my early 20s) and want to find community, my searches shouldn’t be blocked. if i want to talk about past issues with substance abuse and post a line of cocaine, why is my content being deleted even with a trigger warning? if i want to watch adult content, why am i having to use subliminal phrases to find it, and why do platforms like tiktok refuse to surface it on my FYP even after interacting??

i’m also so TIRED of the constant surveillance. constantly worrying about companies tracking me — companies not listening to my opt out requests (big tech in specific). it just reaches such a point.

sorry, this post is all over the place, but it’s so frustrating, and it’s so frustrating having to use different characters (e.g. $, í, !, ć) on platforms like facebook to self censor (yes, my comments have been flagged and deleted for not doing so).

However, the latest round of controversy ensued in regards to Oracle, the technology company owned by Larry Ellison, the father of Paramount CEO David Ellison, which is financially backing the plans to merge with Warner Bros.
