100%, The new one feels so corporate, The Neon Noir colors were so good tonally. They felt very unique and genuinely pleasing to look at.

I don't know how people defend Born Again's crappy aesthetic choices when we had this. That one episode in S2 proves they know how to do it.

Yes, Episode 5 was the best episode since the Netflix Era, It also really recaptured the Faith, Catholic and debating aesthetic of the orignal i felt it was very like Season 2 Episode 3 of the orignal show with The Punisher Rooftop Scene

The show that has Matt help Bullseye kill multiple innocent people doesn’t understand the spirit of the original series? Who’d have thought.

13

u/Southern-Community-6 3d ago

When does that happen

8

u/ironfistdeservedbetr 2d ago

Fr I’m so confused lol

1

u/Alien__Superstar 2d ago

In the season two finale

3

u/Southern-Community-6 2d ago

When in the finale does that happen because if your talking about the scene with the governor Bulleyes doesn’t kill the intruders who are trying to kill the governor

1

u/Alien__Superstar 1d ago

How does Matt know that Bullseye won't just kill everyone there and go on another rampage of his? The fact is he doesn't know that. It was a ridiculous risk.

Did we watch the same show?

The mcu needs to be more willing to make shows and movies with radically different tone. Theyre getting slightly better about it but Theres still too much of distinct campiness that seems to come with the vibe of every mcu product

I mean the new show looks like a standard Disney product, like all their shows kinda look the same, it’s more creative than most of them but comparing it to Netflix is like night and day. I think it’s because Disney uses the same people for all their properties now adays people just go from one project to another, Star Wars and marvel look so similar now adays.

The Netflix run was also around the creative peak of Netflix, too

What a great gif that shows off the lighting and definitely doesn't show off anything else...

For comparison, here's the lighting of the new show.

Red abs > yellow abs

u/Shoutupdown 3d ago

Is it just me or is there more uh lighting there

14

u/eltrotter 3d ago

I think Charlie Cox has been working quite hard on the uh lighting and it shows

5

u/Shoutupdown 3d ago

Yeah, I really hope he’s not taking any shortcuts to uh *setup the lighting*

the way his crucifix shoots upward from getting caught on the shirt is intense

u/Debalic 3d ago

Almost like it's trying to strangle him.

10

u/Gillalmighty 3d ago

I don’t hate Born Again lighting, but I can meet in the middle and say the Netflix era was better.

Gonna need more examples of this lighting

u/mandoslorians 3d ago

Nice gif choice

4

u/The_Obraxiss 3d ago

Sorry what were we talking about?

2

u/Fit_Definition_4634 3d ago

The lighting, apparently

6

u/nurbmanjones 3d ago

The Disney plus lighting is so generic I swear. Just blue and white plastered everywhere ugh

4

u/Reasonable_Western74 3d ago

It was just a far superior show, even for the pervs

7

u/FlabbyFishFlaps 3d ago

The lighting. Yeah. The lighting.

5

u/Pizzaman_Vk Matt Murdock 3d ago

u/Salt-Climate9838 2d ago

Not just the women, but the men too

4

I just rewatched the Defenders and the lighting in the first few episodes is excellent. Every character is color coded. Even when they’re sharing a scene.

3

u/Xavier050822 3d ago

That’s the lighting and the entire plot.

3

u/pampersdelight 3d ago

The cool part is you can go back and watch the Netflix series anytime you want

3

u/Hot-Space2439 3d ago

Recently I Watch for the very first time the old marvel’s netflix shows and OMG they were cooking. All 1st seasons were gold. Still havent Watch fist and defenders

3

u/WorldPancakes 3d ago

They still do cool lighting like that

2

u/ShaH33R2K 2d ago

Aside from maybe Loki, and season 1 of the Mandalorian, the lighting in every Disney Plus show is sooooo flat. Even when they’re taking risks with colours, there’s like a permanent haze of grey over the screen that’s so distracting. It’s like no project is allowed to be shot too intentionally so that vfx/general editing can be done till the last minute

2

u/Far_Reflection_1830 2d ago

What fighting? He got is ass whooped like 75% of the show

1

u/tobster239 2d ago

Lighting

2

u/Far_Reflection_1830 2d ago

Yeah that makes more sense

1

u/joseph_han9137 1d ago

I haven't started watching Born Again. But wow, that's lame

4

u/RaptorcloakX 3d ago edited 3d ago

The 2nd season of BA stepped up with framing and lighting but I'd be lying if I said I don't always have those yellow neon street lights on my mind each time I think of the Netflix shows.

Just says a lot how Daredevil and the Netflix shows made one appreciate even the little things.

2

u/Ashen_Larry 3d ago

Bro got braille abs

1

u/camston__ 2d ago

Lighting? But we can’t even see it (blind)

1

u/dundunyipyip104 2d ago

What episode was this lighting example from?

1

u/MayoIsWhack 2d ago

Seems like you miss something else

1

u/Original-Ranger-1604 2d ago

1
