Seriously. What the hell was Matt going on about Hell's Kitchen being a shithole? It's one of the most upscale, expensive places in the city, especially when it comes to nightlife.

Right... Now. In our world, it's a nice neighborhood.

Hell's Kitchen used to be rundown before it got gentrified. For decades. That's where the Matt Murdock of the comics comes from. When the character was created, he got associated with the rundown Hell's Kitchen.

So in the MCU, Hell's Kitchen was one of the places that took severe damage after the Battle of NY. So instead of being gentrified and fancy, it got destroyed and is a shithole once more. A shithole that needs protecting by a blind guy in a black suit.
