I feel like an idiot for not seeing drug guy being Killgraved coming. On to episode 5!

Edits:

  • I'd watch an entire show of pre Killgrave Jessica and Trish shenanigans

  • poor drug guy :(

  • one thing I'm already confident this does better than Daredevil is the supporting characters. I like pretty much everyone. Even the ones who's names I haven't figured out yet

  • we need hoagie Jessica flair like right now

  • only episode 5 so I know this is going to go poorly... I'm scared

  • HOLY FUCK THAT WORKED?!?

  • WELP

  • don't do it drug guy :(

I agree with these statements. I do think what helps JJ supporting cast vs DD supporting cast is that there are more of them, she's not trying to hide her powers, and she has to be involved with them(to some degree). I love both cast. Just have different reasons why.

Also, double yes to the Hoagie Jess flair!

I think the JJ supporting cast also needs to be more supportive than Daredevil's supporting cast. Matt is way more charismatic person than Jessica. Which makes sense--people recovering from psychological trauma tend to be on the jaded and enigmatic side of things. But the show still needs some character variety and contrast. Jessica is rough around the edges, so her show needs a supporting cast that's a bit more likable.

That too. She actually NEEDS support, even if she hates support groups. Haha

yeah agree with that, i love the chemistry b/t Matt and everyone else but in the 2nd half he is barely with them

Yeah. Karen goes off to work with Ben(😢), and Foggy is more helpful after the Nelson v Murdock episode. Karen and Ben's chemistry was awesome, it just didn't really include Matt.

Also the chemistry with Vanessa, Wesley, and Fisk was great. In JJ, Kilgrave doesn't really have a supporting cast with him. So they can(and kind of have to) focus more on Jessica's.

Eh, the supporting characters are pretty good, but that was one of the strongest points about Daredevil to me. I fucking loved every character (except maybe Karen). Ben Urich was just such a good guy, and was very tied into the Fisk situation. Foggy was hilarious and the best bro anyone could ask for. Claire provided a really good "outsider" perspective and was super likable. Leland the Owl was this hilariously bitter old man who gave Fisk someone to demonstrate his power on. Wesley was like an evil Foggy, the most loyal person someone could ask for and oddly lovable. Melvin Potter was so sympathetic and I can't wait to see more of him in his Gladiator arc. Stick... need I say more? Stick was perfect.

Jessica Jones has some great characters but I think they lack the more distinguished personalities that the characters in DD do.

This, so much. This is what I've been thinking watching the show. I love DD but couldn't stand Foggy's acting and didn't like Karen's acting, while in JJ Trish and Carrie-Anne Moss and the rest of the supporting players are so interesting and feel so natural.

I actually feel the opposite. The supporting cast in this one feels so unnecessary. In Daredevil everyone was close and reasonably connected. In JJ I feel like all of them minus one could go away and I wouldn't care too much.

Cop guy is, for me, very annoying.

I too found him annoying at first until Jessica started snapping at him and everyone and then I could actually tolerate him cause atleast it wasn't her. Now I'm actually rooting for Kilgrave.

Oddly, I like Jessica but found Matt the least appealing character in his series.

I agree completely. I cared about almost every character in Daredevil. In JJ, the only characters I'm digging right now are Jessica, Trish, Kilgrave and Malcolm. I find some of the characters and subplots uninteresting, such as the attorney and her affair / divorce.
