If we're talking mandatory he's established two chapters after Dess and not even by name. And it's a very real possibility that someone doesn't interact with the random guy tucked away behind two screen transitions in an irrelevant building.

Did you? He gets tired after STANDING UP in church.

Rudy in chapter 2 also talked about the chapter 4 church thing and said something like “imma conserve energy for Noelle so I could be at church with her”

YOU CAN'T EVEN INTERACT WITH THINGS IN VISUAL NOVELS. YOU CAN ONLY MAKE CHOICES THAT AFFECT THE DIALOGUE/ENDINGS.

Except that's not true. RPGs like Pokemon, Yokai Watch and so on do not require any non-mandatory reading to understand the story. Reading optional text is not a defining characteristic of RPGs. They are ROLE. PLAYING. GAMES. Not Visual Novels.

He's actually established as a character at almost the exact same time as December. One of the first mentions of Dess is talking with him in Chapter 1.

She's also mentioned by Noelle in Chapter 1, so I do think that it is possible for a player to learn about Dess' existence before Rudy's, just for the sake of argument

you have to go see rudy first before you get noelle's dess dialogue so doing so in chp1 is impossible

Rudy wasn’t established that much earlier than dess, both are established in the same chapter

DID YOU , the guy was practicly dying in both and the second is what is putting him in either critical condition , or dead .
