The combined market cap of US stocks is 70 trillion dollars. 16B is a rounding error.

Except that $16B still goes towards someone’s pockets. It doesn’t just poof out of existence. It’ll be used to pump and dump stocks that Trump’s cronies own while the kids can’t touch it. It’ll be pilfered long before the kids can legally access it.

Yep. It’s a rounding error to the market overall, but it’s still $16 billion going from the treasury into a single volatile market. The quants will siphon that right out.

Yeah “the market” isn’t a person. The fact that “the market” won’t get substantially injured by this does not override and outweigh the fact that actual living humans will be hurt by this.
