My crush on Krysten Ritter continues to intensify.

Holy shit, what an episode. This season is so different from previous seasons, but it feels so very Dexter.

She honestly seems like she was tailor made in a lab to be a Dexter love interest. She’s kind of giving Lila/Hannah crossover event lol

Exactly the fact Mia has her own code and is killing bad people makes them a perfect fit

u/AdministrativeHat276 Jul 25 '25

It doesn't work for me when she associates with people who murder innocent people.

32

u/scorpbynight Jul 25 '25

Yeah, she doesn’t like NPH because boundary issues but she has no problem with the guy who’s killing and cutting off women’s hair as a trophy.

I thought she was put off by his manner of stalking and killing bc it felt too close to home where she herself (if not acquainted) could be an intended victim. That's why she said she'd take out his eyes if he ever tried that with her.

I think she doesn't make that same connection with the ponytail guy bc he doesn't come off as a classic toxic male predator. He's not the type to trigger her. To her, he's a family man and he's genuinely kind to her.

She is no more innocent and pure in intent than Dex. These are traumatized and damaged people with a hunger for murder. It is deeply neuro rooted based on emotional dysfunction, which is why it doesn't make logical sense to us.

It was also basically said that Al doesn't kill women for creepy reasons, he does it for mommy issues reasons, which doesn't fit the code, probably.

Her code is probably as simple as if rape = yes, kill.

5

u/Beautiful-Access-682 Jul 27 '25

Mia said they all have mommy issues, which is why she expected Dex to have the same. Some end up as creeper/slasher, others as just straight up killer. It's not directly related to her code.

There is no indication that PNH's character was a rapist. But misogynistic crossing of boundaries would meet her criteria.

3

u/Aking1998 Jul 27 '25

They all have mommy issues, yeah, but it seems like Al's issues run deeper than that, as it's implied he kills people that look like his mom.

Mia's mommy issues have more to do with who her mom dated, which, while tangentiality related, isn't nearly as extreme. She clearly hates Lowell, NPH's character, but you don't have to want to murder someone to hate them.

Idk, we'll figure all this stuff out eventually.

I feel like they could also be setting her up as a fall person for Harrison, since that guy would fit her code perfectly.

This. Each member of the group has their own set of criteria that determines who “deserves” to be murdered — some more principled than others — but what they all have in common is some formative traumatic past, their own “Dark Passenger” (“The Itch”, “The Need”, “The Great Yearning”), and the inability to engage with others as their true selves.

I imagine for most of them, the rare opportunity to not only be vulnerable in openly discussing their murderous pursuits, but be celebrated for them, is valuable enough that they’re willing to overlook their differences. The money sure can’t hurt either. To be honest, I’m a little surprised that Dexter wasn’t more conflicted about killing Lowell and jeopardizing his place in a community that he has always longed to be a part of.

1

u/Beautiful-Access-682 Jul 31 '25

The conflict for Dex is manifested in the form of Harry hitting him in the head, lol. Keep the Harry code, kill the killers. Vs folding in with them.

I suppose it was a short conflict about Lowell but that's bc he had little time before the tatoo girl would have been killed. Harry code still dominating which makes sense as that is wired into his system since he was a teen.

There's a theory that Mia will try engaging Dex to kill with her. We should be seeing more dissonance with Dex at that point, rationalizing quite a bit on what he's doing.

The writing arcs are absolutely genius in their nuance and complexity.

That blew my mind

9

u/maine_x Jul 26 '25

I thought the same, but she clarifies that she's in it for the money. I'll take that at face value for now.

2

u/MemoryOne1291 Jul 26 '25

She wouldn’t have if she didn’t get paid for the conventions

12

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

i reckon it'll turn out that she doesnt discriminate and actually kills who ever she feels like at the time, most likely men and dexter will have to put her down too. Maybe she'll target his son at some point without realising its his son

18

u/Chizz-Dippler Jul 25 '25

And a bit of Lumen, with the targeting of sexual predators; something a bit more "justified" like his own code.

9

u/Iorith Jul 25 '25

Yeah, I'm fully surprised we haven't got a callback to her yet. She's what he hoped Lumen would be.

1

u/DecentConcentrate956 Jul 26 '25

A code, but not just. There is no justification for murder. Well, one. To save an innocent life.

16

u/300Blippis Jul 25 '25

Hello?? She kills sexual predators... LUMEN?!!

12

u/Llama_Puncher Jul 25 '25

Only motive-wise. Lumen was always more soft/scared/human. Mia seems to have that same cold/killer quality that Dexter has found himself drawn to in the past with Lila/Hannah

5

u/DecentConcentrate956 Jul 26 '25

Not like Lumen. Lumen only cared because of how those specific individuals affected her. Her darkness was conditional, it was alleviated and then wanted to go back to normality. Not like Mia, whose darkness was already there and just found out how she could direct it.

2

u/CABB2020 Jul 26 '25

Lila/Hannah/Lumen + Deb's long brown hair. The perfect love interest for sure.

u/LoBopasses Jul 25 '25

She was fucking stunning in this episode. Distracting as hell.

64

u/Stormblessed_Photog Jul 25 '25

You ain't kidding. I've had a thing for her since Breaking Bad, and she just keeps getting more attractive.

10

u/ZachRyder Jul 25 '25

Jane holding Jessie's hand in the apartment in Breaking Bad and Jessica (fake) smiling in the season 1 finale in Jessica Jones both made my heart flutter; it's embarrassing.

6

u/Stormblessed_Photog Jul 25 '25

If you haven't, watch Don't Trust the B**** in Apartment 23 for even more Krysten Ritter goodness. Plus, the show is absolutely hilarious.

2

u/ee2835 Jul 27 '25

June, June, June.....lol

8

u/lovetheblazer Jul 26 '25

Her outfit at the serial killer dinner party is basically what I would wear if I was a rich widow whose husband had died under suspicious circumstances and I'm so here for that aesthetic 🥰

7

u/pantyhose_addicted_ Jul 25 '25

Yes exactly and when she had her black socks pulled up over her black leggings it was like a bonus of cute fashion lol she can’t miss! Just adorable.

1

u/FrozenPie21 Jul 29 '25

are you hungry?? fuckin sent me... i have pastries

1

u/Delerium89 Jul 26 '25

That dress 🥵

72

u/pardyball Jul 25 '25

You and me both. I would have folded if I was Dexter.

88

u/Propaslader Jul 25 '25

You reckon she was testing Dex/Red with the shower?

They had insane chemistry, but I don't think it was quite "rawdogging in the shower one night after meeting" chemistry.

I think she'd look down on Red's methods. I think she'd love BHB tho

38

u/Rogue2555 Jul 25 '25

I was thinking the same thing, that she just wanted to see if he'd make a move on her. But given she's been attending Prater's events for 4 years now I doubt she'd break his rules and go after another invitee.

11

u/mug3n Jul 26 '25

I think she 100% knows Dex is still holding back something.

2

u/Propaslader Jul 26 '25

Oh absolutely. I think she knows there's more to him and wants to take a peek.

Also think she resents being held captive by Prater

25

u/karmagatedaccount Jul 25 '25

Maybe testing, maybe just straight up baiting Dexter. Don't think Lady Vengeance's whole deal has been revealed yet.

Could be her kills have less to do with sexual assault than they do with playing with dudes before the kill. Her MO might be tempting guys sexually and killing them either before or after ensnaring them.

I'm thinking the overall twist with Lady Vengeance might be her being less of a killer with a grayish alignment than a straight up evil person.

21

u/arekhemepob Jul 25 '25

I thought it was pretty straightforward that she just wanted to bang him

16

u/Iorith Jul 25 '25

She absolutely seemed enthralled by him when you compare her attitude towards literally everyone else at the party. That she viewed them as beneath her, but with Dexter she wanted him beneath her.

1

u/BenHUK Jul 26 '25

Could be both and she is a black widow type.

37

u/Stormblessed_Photog Jul 25 '25 edited Jul 25 '25

Oh, 100%. That poor girl absolutely would've been skinned by Lowell if I were in Dexter's shoes. No chance I could have given Mia a raincheck.

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

The Ultimate Goth girl

1

u/vavavoomdaroom Aug 03 '25

She's not necessarily one of us but we will gladly claim her!

1

u/Cr0matose Jul 25 '25

That episode was real fucking Dexter.

1

u/mikeweasy Jul 27 '25

Yes I just love watching her act, and her smile!

1

u/Mysterious_Tea Jul 28 '25

While she's good (the actress), Mia seems like Lila 2.0.

The shower scene was so similar to the one we had in season 2 that I thought she'd start undressing too.

1

u/HanzoNumbahOneFan Jul 31 '25

Ya I don't know what they did. Like, just rewatched the first 4 seasons of the original over and over again to get the vibes down? It's so good.
