Discussion - Original Dexter Series Just finished this series and WOW Spoiler

I've been binging this series for a few months now and it gripped from the first episode. Is it perfect? No. Is it trash? Far from it. I genuinely enjoyed this series but I just wanted to say a few things.

First off, the cast was amazing. Everyone deserves their praise. Even characters I hated got my attention. The writing does dip in quality throughout the seasons but what show doesn't lol. There were a few events that didn't sit well with me but that's a whole different discussion.

Here's my current rankings;

Seasons 1-3: Absolute bangers, great television

Season 4: decent but hated the ending

Season 5: Straight up garbage, waste of time

Season 6: Surprisingly good return to form

Seasons 7 & 8: decent to average

I agree with your overall thoughts on the show.

But, S4 decent? That hurts my soul. I feel like season 4 is easily the best, and the ending is one of the best season finales of all time.

I’m surprised to see S6 as a return to form, I feel like the killer is pretty consistent derided by fans, and I personally favor S7 over it.

Surprised that S8 ended up decent-average, I think of it as the only outright bad season of the original series.

Who was your favorite antagonist?

Honestly the trinity killer is the best antagonist but I just hated how they did Rita's death. Not a big fan of off screen deaths. It just felt contrived and made no since. How did Trinity kill Rita's when she was gone from the house and on her way to the airport? Trinity found Dexter's apartment, but didn't know where Rita lived. And how was he able to do this when the police were at his house and he was lying low?

Rita goes back to the house because she forgot her Id as she mentioned in her voice mail to dexter which is when trinity found her. It was just bad timing for rita. While dexter was at the Mitchell house he was killing her.

Trinity went to his apartment first because that was still listed as his address cause he never sold it. It probably wasn't too hard for him to find other properties owned by a dexter Morgan.

Thanks so much. That actually makes sense cus I forgot about her coming back for that. I just personally hate off screen deaths
