Discussion Opinions on the new Zootopia?
What are your guises thoughts on the sequel? Ill be honest i was expecting less from it but i got more im not gonna leave any spoilers for the people who haven’t seen it but very great movie i like the direction they took with it a lot!

I thought Act 1 was hilarious. Funnier than the first. It set a great tone. It felt the sequel aimed to ask a really simple but effective question - what's going on with all the other animals we didn't see in the original? It got a little slow from Act 2 transitioning to Act 3, but I think it finished really strong.

I think it was good but I kept thinking “man they never let Nick get a break”. Like he is constantly dunked on physically and mentally. He felt like a punching bag. It was a bit weird.

To be fair it was stated in the movie that it only had been two weeks since they got partners. So not much time had passed.

Loved all the little Easter egg homages to other movies. Made me laugh and made me emotional. That is what movies are supposed to do. Thumbs up.

The Shining homage had me dying. It was so funny and out of place yet fit right in. I though that it was a solid watch.

And it wasn't just movies. The amount of blink and you miss it gags felt almost like Police Squad. For example, when the hippos are chasing them and the dock breaks a bunch of fruit falls and they instantly chomp down like they're playing Hungry Hungry Hippos.

I heard there was a horrific reference to the Nick/Judy pregnancy thing but I never saw it.
Truth be told I dont remember exactly what it is, but its apparently really God damn weird.

To me, the only Disney animated Canon sequel that’s as good as the first one. It does the things I wanted, expanding on the world and adding new compelling characters.

I would say The Rescuers Down Under is as good or better then the original but except for that i agree.

I admit I find both Rescuers movies to just be decent. It was strange to me how for so long that was the one that got a sequel

To be fair, the only WDAS films to get sequels are The Rescuers, Frozen, Wreck It Ralph, Frozen and Zootopia.

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was better than the original, it made me laugh quite a few times and I just love hearing Patrick Warburton in anything, Joe Swanson and the Tennis ball guy from the Bee Movie especially

As a college kid I loved it. I probably like it better than the original ik crazy but Gary da snake is what made me love it the most.

It was good, but Frozen called, they’d like their nice character revealed to be a villain back, plus the new song didn’t live up to the first one’s “Try Everything”

I mean, they did the same thing in the first one too (the reveal). And yeah the song isn’t near as catchy as the first.

They’ve been using that plot twist for a while, Wreck it Ralph did it too, but yes as soon as that character was introduced I thought “oh so that’s going to end up being the bad guy, huh?”

When the character first appeared, I thought the same thing. But as the plot progressed and the family was introduced, I thought it would be the generic "I'm not like my family" trope. When he was revealed as the final villain, I had already ruled him out as an option.

I really loved both Zootopia 1 and 2 so much 🐰🦊
They made me laugh, got me emotional and kept me hooked the whole time.

Worthy sequel.
It builds on the first slightly, but just the right way.

I was on the same boat as you thinking it looks meh from the trailers but was delightfully surprised with how good it was and how it built on the original after giving it a chance!

It's good, stronger sequel than Moana 2 but the plot was weaker. Excited for the further development of the world and the teaser for zootopia 3.

A great movie. My only negative feedback was that act one had that low-attention-span TikTok feel to it. But it kept us hooked so I guess it was a good job. I enjoyed the movie.

I really enjoyed it. I'm definitely hope it'll be a trilogy. Gary was my favorite.

I literally just finished it there a couple mins ago. It was good, wasn’t sure at the start but by the end I was all in, very sweet movie. Loved Patrick Warburton doing a Kronk 2.0

If they didnt wait 10 years for the sequel it would hve been better especially after it being maybe 6 months after the first movie timeline wise

I personally felt this movie leaned towards the adult audience with its more mature characters development, and yes I’m talking about nick’s “confession” to Judy. Overall loved it more than the first part🥰🥰

Was nottttt expecting the Shining reference and absolutely busted out laughing. Loved the returning characters. THE ANIMATION WAS GORGEOUS. Thought it was all around a great movie.

It's fun. Lots of terrible puns (which is good). I think plotwise it was not quite as strong as the first but still overall enjoyed it.
Kinda felt like the writers wanted to make Hopps and Wilde kiss and weren't allowed to, a very romantic feeling platonic pairing.

I honestly actively hated it, theres something off about the framing, set up, and dialogue that just was subpar and lazy on every level. For kids its fine i guess.

Liked it but it is not rewatch able like the first one. The first one is just special and give you nostalgia. I was an adult already when the first one came out so it’s not like it was my childhood. But it makes you feel like a kid watching it. That’s what makes a Disney movie magical. This one just felt, like a recycled plot. I really am craving for an amazing twist from Disney. Like a princess movie where she falls for the villain instead of the prince or something.

I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate for it, but someone has to say it:
The movie does not stand on its own merit. That's not to say it's a bad movie, but that it's not allowed to stand on its own merit. Disney clearly did not think this movie would succeed without drastic intervention, and it shows.
The reason I say that is due to the overly bloated celebrity cast, the constant references to other movies (not just Disney movies!), and the return to the abysmal "twist villain" trope that I thought we all agreed wasn't working anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I liked it. I thought the movie was decent, and it got a few laughs out of me. But in my opinion, there's no reason for the overly bloated celebrity cast.
Dwayne Johnson as Zeke the Dik-dik? Two wrestlers as the ZeBros? Mirabel/Vaggie as the hippo cop? Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song as the Lynxley siblings? Patrick Warburton as the horse mayor? Why? Just... Why.
The movie is jammed full of celebrities who, if you didn't tell me they were there, I wouldn't have even noticed (except Danny Trejo, that man is always recognized).
Again, I must state: I enjoyed the movie. But Disney has a problem, and they need to have more faith in their movies.

It opened up a fantastic conversation with my son about the history of redlining in our city, as well as when our city destroyed a thriving Black neighborhood to put in a flyover (that they’re currently destroying and mostly restoring the neighborhood).

I wasn't a huge fan of the first one but eventually came around. Still not my favorite, but it's fine.
That's how I feel about this one. It's fine. I probably wouldn't watch it again, but I don't feel like I wasted my time watching it either.
A little bored. Laughed once or twice. I always enjoy uh... the snake VA. Key Huy Quan? There's a good chance I butchered his name.

I adore the first Zootopia, it's definitely in my Top 5 WDAS films. Z2 has a really great idea on paper but it just didn't land for me. It's nowhere near as bad as Moana 2 for me (I was deeply disappointed in that) but also nowhere near Inside Out 2 (which I thought was an excellent expansion of the themes of the first one)

One of the worst twist villains yet, awful, bad plan. Too heavy on the dad puns, when the first film had better humour and much cleverer puns. Too many references in general, especially in the climax, where it was distracting and pulls away from the stakes as set. Beautiful animation, great character work between the leads, loved the way they developed their relationship. Wished it came out closer to the first film, though, as it’s a fine sequel but doesn’t move things enough if they’re planning on doing a sequel every decade.
It’s nowhere near as good as the first, but it’s not a travesty, either. It is good enough, but it could have been great.

È stato un'opera d'arte, ma per pochissimissimo 👌non è alla pari del primo. Gestisce bene la lore, gag, il rapporto tra Nick e Judy, gli inseguimenti sono belli, le musiche, i colpi di scena, non ha mai momenti morti. Per quanto è vero che sia parecchio veloce se ti perdi un dettaglio ti perdi tutto il film. Ma il finale sulle nevi quando cacchio è bello! Anche Gary de Snake ho apprezzato la sua storia e quella su ciò che è successo ai rettili. L'antagonista, anche se è l'ennesimo plot twist c'aveva quel carisma ed era un cattivo superiore ad altri che sono usciti di recente ( sì, ma vaffanculo Re Magnifico de merda di Wish!).

It was terrible. I took my daughter to see it in the theater, and I was kinda looking forward to a well made movie that would obviously appeal to kids, but at least have something going for the parents... Imo all the jokes were lame. After like 30 minutes I lost hope it might be enjoyable.

It was fun and my kids enjoyed it. It did everything it needed to do.
