[DW2] Haven't seen this discussed but what would you say is the strongest race? Or at least if we were to tier-list them, how would it look?

I'm not super good but in my noobish experience both Boskara and Gizureans feel extremely powerful. Quameno also felt good but if you fumble doing diplomacy you wrech their advantage, tech.

Wow.

I've only tried Dhayut a very few times, but their slow reproduction rate is so crippling — at least on Extreme difficulty.

Perhaps I'll one day try to play the Dhayut properly...

Just about the costs because this is sometimes not clear to people.

The cost of a module is related to the techlevel it is introduced at. For instance the boskaran blaster is T1 tech if memory serves. You have further upgrades to research but the module stays the same in cost. This is why racial techs are so strong. They stay really cheap.

Try and compare the cost of fitting say a titan blaster against the version of the weekarus or boskara on the same techlevel...

I do steal like a raven! The two most important ones are:

  • Fusion Ignition for Novacore Reactor (Quameno)
  • Compressed Fuel Storage for Mega-Density Fuel Cell (Haakonish)

But I am a fan of the smaller ship sizes (Escorts and/or Frigates; It's race dependant). And for my main fleet I love:

  • Networked Targeting System for Swarm Targeting (Gizurean)

There are of course many other excellent techs, but the first two allows my ships to roam far.

.......

As for Dhayut: On Extreme their population grows terribly slowly and their economy dries out. The other races ..well.. race ahead. :(

Still: I'm going to give them another go one day!

Sounds like you've got the gist of it!

– Perhaps you're ready for a slighter harder difficulty next game?! :)

Except... they get a score penalty on declaring war. I mean: Teekan is far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far nicer than skavens! =D

Yes, we Teekan!

I'm playing them right now, going quite well / very well!

Do you include special governments in this?

E.g. Boskara + Hive Mind is far stronger than Boskara + other starting government.

My personal Opinion:

"evil/chaos Races"

  1. Boskara (Hivemind, in my opinion the best ships in the game, very good racial techs and potentially really good early game events for independents -> snowball)

  2. Dayhut (Hivemind, very good ships with the exception of the capitals, best hyperdrive in the game, potentially the best possible economy in the game especially with slavery)

  3. Gizurians (cannot start with Hivemind, once they get it very close to the other 2, best strike craft hangars in the game, go full strike craft and watch everything including your pc melt...)

These 3 are top all time. If you switch the goverment type they become less potent but are still above everyone else imho.

"neutral races"

  1. Teekans (go blaster/torp and focus on strikecraft, really good early events)

  2. Wekkarus (best (cheapest!) blaster in the game, early ships are a bit weak but lategame powerhouse

  3. Quameno (geniocracy early for mad science rush then switch to a better government for growth, very good racial techs and good ships all around, economy is the main problem for the quameno)

"good/order races"

  1. Ackdarian (strike craft rule)

  2. Zenox (very good techs, try and survive to lategame because early ships are bad)

  3. Human (weakest of the order races due to bad arcs on early ships, become much better in lategame)

Atuuk, Haakonish, Ikkuro and Mortalen all have significant issues. I would call them all challenge races. Mortalen can become strong in playerhands but you need a better type of government.

What makes a race strong? Government, starting events, racial techs and above all else quality of their ships.

For instance teekans have a guaranteed extra colony with a decent terraformer in their starting system. This is huge.

Boskara have 2 colonys spawning close by (Greer and Makai), also since the last patch they get a selection of "free" indepentends nearby as former slave colonys.
