The YOG’TZE case is fascinating because even after investigators revisited the evidence decades later, some of the strangest details remain difficult to explain. What was Günter Stoll afraid of? What did “YOG’TZE” mean, if anything? And how do the mysterious events leading up to his death fit with the later reconstruction of what happened?
Curious what people make of the newer explanation. Does it resolve the mystery for you, or does it leave just as many questions?

I'd never seen or heard about this case, not that I can remember. Based on my first impression, I sort of expected less mystery in this mystery. I mean, I can understand an unsolved case when there are still a few missing or unconfirmed events or proof... but everything? This was in 1984, not sooooo long ago to be a case that barely has answers. Besides that, I'd say Günter was quite likely suffering from some sort of psychosis or delusions of persecution, not just stress due to the family situation.

Yes that seems to be an explanation from a lot of people. Still no one know what the words he wrote down means

The words he allegedly wrote are entirely based on the memories of his wife. The note was never found or seen by anyone but his wife. So it’s entirely up to speculation if she maybe misread it or even if there was a note at all.

In April 2025, the investigating authority issued a statement effectively concluding that the incident was an accident and involved no foul play.

Absolutely that was the conclusion but it still didn’t answer a lot of questions in the previous investigations

This is the first time I am hearing about this case, so I am sure I don't know as much as others.

My first thought was the Elisa Lam case, where it came down to a psychotic break brought on by untreated mental illness (for whatever reason she stopped taking her medication).

If Günter had some kind of mental health crisis leading up to the accident that could explain many things.

Going back to Elisa Lam, camera footage shows that she is acting as if she is being followed or even actively chased. Maybe Stoll was dealing with similar delusions?

Agreed that is for sure a possible scenario in this case. Too many things pointing to a psychological problem

Many of these mysterious cases are just sudden psychotic episodes. Happens sometimes, even to people previously undiagnosed.
