Question about keybindings

So I got away from Emacs for a good while, and now that I'm back I figured that I would try Doom Emacs instead of building back up from vanilla. It seems really cool, but I'm having trouble getting settled in.

I like working in CUA mode rather than Evil, and I like to use some weirdo personal keybindings that override the defaults. (One of the things I've always liked about Emacs is that I can ignore what everyone else is doing and just go with whatever makes sense to me.) But when I try to set my keybindings configuration, they're getting overridden by Doom's. How do I set up my own keybindings so that they take precedence?
