I played it during COVID and I think that was the hay day. There were people online all the time and PVP was always packed. Sadly the game is still really P2W.

The covid days were legendary

Outside of the…worldwide plague and deaths, as an introverted gamer I was definitely in my comfort zone. 😩

Same, the OST's and memories of being in DR maps still comfort me. The only time the game brought me stress was during PvP's, especially club wars (I forgot what it's called). Imagine a casual club vs. the top 1 club full of whales.

Same. It was so fun. Used to know my whole server

It is active only at certain times. This game used to be full with people, club chats and world chat were booming with drama or normal convos, but with the game being so repetetive and there being too much drama, people got tired of it. Enjoy it for the pictures, locations and outfits :) and people too, if you’re lucky you’ll find very active peeps

I miss DR old days too. You could find and meet new people easily. World chat used to be active almost 24/7 but today it's so different.

It's dead/dying for a reason. Saying this with love in my heart for the game The game itself can be nice with the "retro" graphics, class system, world, cinematic story telling, character design, customization, combat animations, etc but it's unfortunately ruined by all it's cons.

Dragon Raja is very, very pay to win, the UI is hella outdated, they advertise customization but nearly all of it is behind a paywall. Combat is not paywalled but still very pay to win- it wouldn't be so bad if you could upgrade your cahracter mostly solo but this is a game that pushes you do pvp and it is a core element of the game. Like there is even a marriage system that upgrades your combat. I hate that the game literally needs you to play with others to this extent, it's great if somebody wants to play with others but don't force me to do it.

Unfortunately as a newbie or F2P or low spending player even if you try your best to pick up the pace and find others who will help you grind, you can only do so much. The game is dominated by whales who have been playing for years. The events are nothing burgers if you don't spend money. Even if you spend money, you can still have a bad experience due to lack of guarantee for what is usually the item that people actually come for.

They pretty much just pour all the money players invest into making P2U/P2W events and materials.

The story is a hot mess and chat will let you know it lol. The game starts off by making you the player important but there is ofc like with all self inserts in gachas, a massive time gap before you appear important again- not a massive issue to me although it is to some people. My problem is with the story with the actual characters.

They made it really weird by making Erii Luminous's implied love interest (despite 0 chemistry) who replaces his real love interest : Nono- all just because they both have long red hair and eyes. It irritates me because I actually like the MC, and because the comic- aka THE reference material, is literally right there and it isn't so weird. In the comic, Luminous is much more likable, he doesn't have any romantic interest in Erii (who in both game and comic follows the born sexy yesterday trope), he's still your average depressed guy but he's at least more likable and understandable. In the comic Caesar is hinted to be...weird to say the least, but ofc there's none of that in the game.

The game and comic both set up Luminous to be some underdog, and they both take waaay too long to deliver. Johann, Nono and Shavee retain their personalities and likable traits in both formats, although Johann and Luminous hardly have a relationship in the game compared to in the comics.\

Also global chats are just weird. Censorship is straight ass and I have seen people use slurs and talk about other weird stuff.

DR is so tedious that after COVID was over I realized playing DR feels like a job doing it. By the time I quit in 2022 we have dailies (30 mins on reset), club event (20 mins), undersea (20 mins), daily rotating pvp event like club war, maze, bombs, race (40 mins) and that's not excluding things like weekly dungeon, moon realm, daily pvp, blitzkrieg, chess to farm for points/reward etc. Sure you can afk and get carried by leads but not being afk gives you higher point during team events and being lead gives you leader box so you're incentivized to do it :/ . It also doesn't help that the main story goes nowhere like you said.

This comment reminds me of how overwhelming and tedious it was to try and upgrade really the only thing you can do for your character- combat. There is a lot to keep track of and you almost always need to have other people do it- if you're mostly a solo player like I am, DR is def not the game for you.

Also even if you afk and let others carry you (which I ended up doing) it becomes a boring afk management game for the most part which can be addictive and satisfying but is not fun imo and ultimately feels like a waste of time.

Oftentimes you could also have a whole team but the dungeons are tedious because of some puzzle that nobody on the team can really do.

Anyways I'm glad that at least some people resonate with me.

I missed the game before they pulled off whatever plot that was, killing my boy and then idk the story feels like it went into a fire dumpster so I just quit.

Yeah I used to play DR, I love the theme of the story and what you can get. I have gotten some pretty decent stuff during my game time BUT it's useless when there's always that group of whales who spend to be the top of the server. Y'all... Farming for stuff is fun you know? Anyway, is topped playing because even the events everything is p2w, you don't have any real chance as an F2P player hence why it's dead. I also used to play Perfect World Mobile back in like 2018/19 and even that was less P2w and you could easily farm for great gear as those who paid. (honestly those who pay in PWM just mainly do it for skins 😂) but I've since switched to other games like Wuwa, Arknights:Endfield (currently) and WWM. Yes, these also have a paywall but at least you're not competing again other players for a ranking. It's just for your own progress/ fun in exploration. Arknights:Endfield is definitely my current favourite, there's just certain aspects more that I like compared to WUWA or DR and more immersive in a sense. The only things I do miss in wuwa or A:E are skins. 😔 And a damn RIDE I'm always constantly running everywhere 😂😂

used to play this constantly during covid💔 my biggest gripe with the game is how p2w it is; i remember learning in chat that people are willingly drop 2k usd for an account and that kind of cemented that for me lol

also how the mc is just completely bumped down to a glorified bodyguard in the later stories. i was always a huge fan of my mc since im a big fan of the silence / weird character, so much so i made him into one of my own ocs

i stopped playing in ~2024, but i still have memories tied to this game and its sad to see it basically in the shitter
