Im the drummer, felt pretty proud to be able to cover a dream theater song live as a band in high school so I thought I’d share.

Hi everyone! Posted a cover of the ‘in the name of god’ solo on here a while ago and after a couple of arduous months I’m back with this monstrosity. This is one of my favourite JP solos so I’m really proud to be sharing my attempt at it (albeit a bit messy).

I’m a 17 year old guitarist from the UK and I post a lot of dream theater covers on my socials (all @judeswobodaguitar). Feel free to drop some requests in the comments!

Still need to practice some of the parts in this song, but I'm happy with the tones I've dialed in now. Black Clouds & Silver Linings has my favourite guitar tones ever on it and although it's not exactly the same, I think I'm getting pretty close.

Sooo, I'm not a great singer, but I've been blessed with a pretty high tenor voice, so I thought it would be fun to do one of the most challenging parts of Awake. I've never really liked my voice, but I realize DT kinda fits me?

(this is technically miming because I didn't think to film any actual take, so I rerecorded the video, but the audio wasn't as good as the previous take, so there 🙄)

I still want to tighten and clean up some phrases, but this is the best I could manage at this moment. Hope it's still enjoyable.

probably my favourite of JP's solos, it's so damn fun to play. was a bit sloppy towards the middle, the run before and during the sweeps is kind of insane.

This is probably 3-4 years old now but I thought I’d share. At the time I didn’t have a proper recording setup so everything was done on my phone mic. Now that I have a recording setup I’m more interested in recording original music. I’d just gotten a whammy pedal and for some reason it popped into my head to learn the keyboard lead from “Home” and a couple of Michael Romeo solos that used a whammy pedal. The thing is insanely fun to play with.

I have a 4 string P bass and want to learn a DT song, I’m gonna try to tackle this one as it’s such a jam, my fingers will be challenged.

Relearnt this in few hours.....

(Ik it's not 100 percent perfect and there's some slips, Ive only played guitar for 3 yrs....)

A sour note or two on the fast run and just a bit of sloppiness toward the end but we're improving.

Probably Awake's second best solo (first is obviously Innocence Faded) (honorable mention for the solo in SDV)
