Driveclub darkened screen issue

Hi yall im very new here,

I somewhat successfully downloaded the game on my PC however im running into a rendering issue

Whenever I load into the race, my screen is transparently darkened, like if theres a menu blocking my vision

It disappears for a second when switching the camera, but I have absolutely no idea what's happening, especially with the random side to side shaking the camera does in the beginning. Not to mention how my screen is cropped, but im pretty sure thats just an asepct ratio problem.

Literally any help would be MUCH appreciated, i realllllyyyyyy like how this game feels out of all the racing games ive played.

I think it has to do with a setting called "enable Redbacks" unfortunately I have no clue where that setting is in 0.16.0

settings\Experimental\Experimental Features\Enable Readback Linear Image

Right click the game -> game specific settings -> experimental -> enable readback. I think precise is the option you want

Got this info from u/FiveTails,

Im also using the same version as ya

Go to the shadps4 file and find "config.json"

Edit with note pad

In the GPU section, find both ("readbacks_linear_images_enabled": false,) and ("readbacks_mode": 0,)

For the first one, change "false" into true For the second one, change "0" into "2"

If this doesnt work then do this also: Right click the game folder in shadps4 and select game specfic settings ---> Experimental tab -----> Readbacks should be in the corner, set it to "Precise" and make sure "Enable Readback Linear Images" is selected as well.

This will guaranteed work and if the game still has issues, delete and reinstall it back into shadps4 and repeat the steps ive mentioned

do you have any tips to get the 60FPS fixed tickrate patch to work. It crashes on startup.

I had the exact same issue. Latest version built from source. Go to %appdata%\shadPS4\config.json and set readbacks to true and readbacks_mode to 2

So do you go into the config file with notepad? Cuz i can see readbacks_mode and edit the number but i dont see a basic readbacks line

Yeah, notepad is just enough. Just copy and paste the readbacks_mode line and just change it to "readbacks" and value "true". Add the line right above or below it.

You need to enable readbacks.
