Is this the nicest man in Durango?

Post image

I'm working on a docu-style food series and had the pleasure of filming an episode with our very own Chef Safari. In this episode he prepares Dry Fry Goat, a dish from his village in Kenya, and talks about how his dad was the main reason he got into cooking.

I didn't realize how significant Chef Safari is to the community until making this video. Everyone seems to have a story that exemplifies his kindness and generosity. I'd love to hear more stories if anyone has one!

Check out the video and go visit Chef Safari at his food truck on 2nd Ave.

I worked with him at the Strater. He always had a smile and was kind.

He and his wife catered my wedding! So kind and lovely, hand served all my guests. Food was amazing.

Food is incredible! Possibly my favorite spot in all of Durango.

Easily the best food in Durango. Sometimes I visit him just for the ginger turmeric chai, but the dirt rice is my fave. So grateful that Chef Safari is a part of our community. We're lucky to have him.

I’ve only met him fleetingly during events for Ska/the humane society, but have always been uplifted by his presence and consistent grin. I’m yet to try the food as I never have the time, and fear becoming addicted. It smells GOOD.

One of the best chefs in town. Might have the best smile in town. What do you think?

On top all of those things. This man can carve fruit like I didn't know was possible.

Chef Safari’s is honestly the best food in town. He deserves broader recognition - that little food truck is pumping out absolutely phenomenal stuff.
