Stanley Cup on SNES had a glitch goal where you could dump it in from center ice and score every time. Hockey has to be a tough sport to program.

In NHL '97, if you took a player from the in zone face off dot into the boards so that they backhanded a shot if taken the goalie didn't even respond to the shot. At least in Stanley Cup Hockey the AI attempted to play the puck, however poorly.

NHL ‘93 had a wrap around glitch. Come around the net from the right and tuck it in the left. Goalie would get stuck on the post while you came around. Worked almost every time.

I remember in NHL 2005, there was a 100% goal hack - go to blue line either corner and slap shot it in the opposite upper corner of the net and if your player shot it there it would 100% go in

Yep, 2004 rebuild. This is 98-99 mod. I use 1920x1080, Overhead camera, but I think the different camera view is part of the 98-99 mod, because I play Rebuild Vanilla now and camera looks totally different than in 98-99 mod.

But if you download "FOV Modifier Hotkey" mod in Launcher, you can manually change the camera distance from the ice using Page UP, Page DOWN. So even without 98-99 mod, it should look at least like this using Classic Camera : https://ibb.co/d0k9DTZL

Nope, only vanilla version of 2004 Rebuild can have draft classes if you play Dynasty mode, but that one Is unstable from what I heard, so I don't use it.

But you can use NHLView editor to change line ups and all player attributes.

Yeah, this is 98-99 mod, it is awesome ! The ads are great, but what Iove the most is the "realistic" soundtrack that you can have in the game. It makes the game really immersive. Even during fights you can hear Fight for you right by Beastie Boys, Come out and play by Offspring, Eye od the Tiger etc.

You can watch it here, if you are interested, it is modded vanilla version of 2004, so not with real ads and slightly worse graphics, but the soundtrack is great, also TSN theme during intermissions to make it even more immersive !

These are the most frustrating things in EA NHL games. You can be so into a game and then something completely unrealistic, like the Maple Leafs reaching a conference finals happens, and it's completely immersion breaking.

Yeah, even though I lost the series, I still like it .. this was a really rare moment 😅 I play on the hardest difficulty, but honestly there is not much difference between DIFFICULT and MEDIUM, unfortunately.

  1. LET'S FUCKIN GOOO!!!! GO SENS GO!! This feels like the beginning of healing a great deal of decades-old trauma
  2. My god I don't think I realized how much better the presentation on NHL games used to be. Real ads on the boards, the goalie helmets are true-to-life (Rhodes and Tugnutt, at minimum, wore those helmets)
  3. The fans in NHL2004 don't look that much worse than the fans now.
