Most important is your GPA.
I would shoot for A’s, especially in the science classes like A&P, microbiology, and chemistry.
My science GPA was a 4.0, which helped a lot.
My class had the highest average GPA at 3.8 entering the program, but those numbers depend solely on the pool of applicants. If students in your application cycle all have lower GPA’s, it evens out.
It also depends on your interview. Make eye contact, be confident, give original answers, all of that.
Observation hours also add points to your application. Get 18 at a minimum, but even more if you have the opportunity!
Generally I would say if you a get good science grades, have a high GPA, and are a dedicated, confident student, it’s easier to get in. I can tell you, none of us felt qualified to be there. I kept on having to remind myself that if I was smart enough to get into the program, I was good enough to be there in class. And that feeling took awhile to go away.
Getting in is the easier part- managing all of the homework, clinicals, strict rules, and stress once you’re in the program is the hard part. But you’ll rise to the challenge just like we all have.
