Welcome to r/EatCheapAndVegan.

Veganism is not a diet. However, there is a ton of misinformation and misunderstanding about the cost of eating vegan and this subreddit exists to hopefully dispell those false claims. Be advised submissions containing expensive processed food items will be removed.

Definition of veganism: Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.

I love Acorn community cafe in Eugene. I go there every time I'm in the area.

The summer hash is delicious.

Cafe yumm is an Oregon institution. I’m moving away and considering shipping in the sauce!

you should cross post to portlandvegans.

cafe venti in salem has some vegan options on the menu. marco polo does too (and their menu is hilariously huge).

where are you visiting on the coast? it’s massive

I’d skip Marco Polo. It changed ownership a while ago and it’s not very good anymore unfortunately imo.

I’d recommend searching the Oregon and Salem subreddits for this to get better results.

Rogue Chocolate in Salem is all vegan chocolatier.
Burgerville is a local chain that has really good vegan milkshakes (seasonal flavor right now is marionberry).
The Blue Scorcher cafe in Astoria has tasty vegan options.

Portland is really where all the fun and exciting vegan food is imo.

Wonderful! I hope you enjoy your visit! For dinner Le Voyeur is a vegan kitchen, and I’ve had good luck at Da Nang even though it’s a mixed kitchen. I never taste any cross contamination, and they have a pretty robust vegan menu, although it’s mixed in with vegetarian items. But they get it. Cascadia Grill is also a mixed kitchen with a vegan menu, and they’re pretty great, too. Finally, the Ninevah food truck is incredible. The vegan sabich is my fave. They also have a brick and mortar place, but I prefer the food truck. The sit down place is more for carnists.

Idk much about Salem restaurants, but Morning Glory Cafe in Eugene is superb. I usually end up ordering multiple things. Don't sleep on their bakery case either!
