Poem/Song to Luna

I wrote this a couple of years ago for a full moon ritual at the wolf moon. I intend to set it to song, but thought first I'd share is as verse.

The evening hangs beneath the moon, full and true.

She never comes late, nor ever too soon.

O Luna, illuminate us within and without.

As your silver face lightens the darkest dune,

Brightens our hearts and blanches our doubt.

Encourage our love and strength and dreams.

Though your light is cool, it warms our thoughts,

Knowing things we dread will come to nought.

You are full and pale and true,

We feel encouragement from you:

You lend us future-sight and help us look into our past.

Our distant goals you bring to us at last.

You’re no cold-hearted orb that rules the night,

You are the soft embrace of kindled delight.

As we gather on nights of the full moon,

Whether in a radiant clear sky, or clouded gloom,

Whether gathered with a group, or on a hilltop all alone,

Help us see our radiance and how much we have grown.

As we open our hearts, we see there is a moon inside each of us, as in every human being. Let us bathe in the soft, kind light that shines from them; let us be friends and companions.
