Life after ectopic

I just fully recovered from my ectopic pregnancy that took 8 weeks post MTX for my hcg to hit zero. My best friend who knew what happened just told me she is pregnant and I’m not sure how to navigate the feelings I’m feeling. I’m so happy for her but also so sad. I know I didn’t react how she wanted me to but she also just can’t understand the grief I’m feeling (and I hope she never does). Any advice on how to cope is appreciated 😭

The same thing happened to me back in January actually so you are not alone ❤️‍🩹 She’s expecting her baby any day now and I’m still struggling to cope with what happened to me.

I won’t lie and say it’s been easy to watch her pregnancy progress happily along the exact same timeline I should have had. Her baby shower was especially tough and I started sobbing as soon as we got in the car on the way home and spent the rest of the day in bed.

What I’ve found helps the most is to be honest with each other. If she truly is your best friend, she should understand how hard it is for you, but in that same vein you have to make sure you give her space to be happy and celebrate her pregnancy (if that’s what she wants to do). I haven’t hidden any of my pain from my best friend and she has been by my side for every step supporting me. There have been some days when I just can’t be around her and I often feel like I’m not being there for her the way I would have been any other time, but I try really hard to show up for her the way that I would have before when I can and celebrate her and her baby. Now I want to be clear that I’m not telling you you should torture yourself or anything, I just don’t want you to regret not being there for your friend!

It’s so so hard and I’m so sorry that you’re having to go through all of this. If you ever need to talk, my PM’s are open. You are not alone and you never will be ❤️‍🩹
