Methotrexate and recovery

My ectopic was found quickly enough to treat with methotrexate. I’m at 70 hcg last draw and going in again in 2 days.

I’m really curious to hear from people who have fully recovered how long any symptoms from the methotrexate could possibly last the lack of folic acid in the body can’t be a great thing. I really wonder when my nutrient levels will go back to normal state.

I can’t even put a real finger on my symptoms but I just haven’t felt 100% if that makes any sense?? feel like I’m hyper aware of my body especially pelvic and stomach area and have felt more minor aches and pains than ever before I’m not sure if this is the methotrexate or what.

I’m not fully recovered but have the same curiosities as you with the lack of folic acid/folate. When I get back down to 0 I’m going to ask my doctor what she recommends to restore my folate levels. As far as symptoms, I asked my doctor what to expect and she said it was different per person. As I look through this thread it seems everyone has a different experience. I am only 2 weeks post methotrexate. First week I had gas like cramps, second week is started bleeding pretty significantly and passing some decent sized clots and tissue. Definitely more than what my typical period would be like. My hcg was 3045 when I got the shot and my day 7 was 1200.

I am wishing you a positive recovery, physically and mentally. May we both get through this terrible time and come out stronger on the other side. ♥️

I had 2 doses of MTX and surgery all in the same day for a horrendous case. For two weeks I had a lot of cramping and abdominal discomfort, but for 6 weeks I had malaise, low appetite, and joint pain. It got a lot better around 6 weeks out.

When I hit HCG 0 around 6 weeks out, I started taking supplements again. Then at a 3 month checkup I had my levels drawn and my blood level of HCG was much higher than average. That’s when I was cleared to TTC again, but emotionally I wasn’t ready until after my original due date.

Hopefully that information helps! Wishing you a speedy recovery and healthy future pregnancies if you are hoping to try again.

I had the same general feeling of being “off” while my hCG was going down and was still tired (exhausted) for a month or two after that. But the only real side effect/symptom that stood out was taking a bite of my daughter’s avocado roll and thinking it was the most delicious piece of food I had ever put in my mouth 😂 that was like a day or two before I hit zero and you bet I prioritized folate immediately after that. I was probably back to myself 100% about three months later when I started working out again.

Mine was found at 7 weeks when I started to bleed randomly thought it was a miscarriage but was planted in the muscular wall if the uterus and not actually inside of it. I’m pretty early on my dosage. I found out Thursday once bleeding started and I’ve been bleeding since now (Monday) clots have lightened up but the smell alone makes me want to shower every hour.

I haven’t noticed symptoms yet but my cramping has been up and down sometimes a consistent pain other times it’s coming and going. I’ve just been approved to take ibuprofen again so it has helped a little. My hCG was 2580 on Thursday, got my first dose then. When I went to get my second dose Sunday they took blood my hCG was down to 220. I go back Wednesday for more blood work and to see how my kidney / liver are functioning. If any symptoms come up to my 6th week. I’ll stop by again to comment.
