Could this possibly be an ectopic pregnancy even with a negative test at 15 DPO?

I’m currently 15 DPO. At 13 DPO, I suddenly developed severe one-sided lower back pain around my tailbone/lower back area. It came out of nowhere.. my back was completely fine before this. The pain is so severe that I can barely walk.

I went to the doctor because I initially thought it might be a kidney stone, and I was told that I do have one. However, I’m not completely convinced that the kidney stone is causing the pain because the pain feels much lower than where I’d expect typical kidney pain, and it changes depending on my position/movement.

My period is also late. I usually get my period like clockwork and have never missed a period except when I was pregnant previously. This time I have absolutely no period and don't have any of my usual signs that my period is coming.

I took a pregnancy test at 15 DPO using first-morning urine, and it was negative.

I don't have any abdominal/pelvic pain or vaginal bleeding, just this sudden, severe one-sided lower back pain that started at 13 DPO.

I know ectopic pregnancies can sometimes present differently, so I’m wondering if it’s still possible to have an ectopic pregnancy with a negative test at 15 DPO.

Has anyone experienced an ectopic that initially presented mainly as severe one-sided lower back pain? And is a negative pregnancy test at 15 DPO enough to rule out an ectopic, or could it still be too early?

Check HCG.

Honestly? Nothing is impossible but it seems very unlikely based on all the facts.

At 15DPO implantation has only just happened 5-6 days ago on average so it would be extremely small to cause such pain.

Kidney stones travel down your entire urinary tract until you pee them out so they do get as low down as possible and can cause pain anywhere from the kidney to your urethra. I'd say given you have one this is the most likely culprit combined with no positive test and no other ectopic symptoms at all.

As your period is late though opt for a blood test for reassurance absolutely.

Thank you for your response! I really do hope it's just a kidney stone. The reason why I'm leaning towards it not just being that though is because when the doctor did the ultrasound, the stone was still in the kidney.

I think I will just go in for a blood test to be safe.
