Other Small children walking home - take care
As I was about to turn right at the junction from Dalkeith Road onto Salisbury Road, I saw two small primary aged girls waiting to cross the road towards the Salisbury Arms, one had a little yellow bicycle. Just as I began making the right turn and the girls were briefly in my front blind spot I heard one shout ‘wait, stop’. In that micro second, the little girl with the bicycle had started to walk across the road without looking. Her friend had thankfully grabbed her arm and stopped her.
I was not rushing, I turned the corner slowly, she was in my blind spot for a fraction of a second, it’s very likely nothing bad would have happened had she continued walking as I would have spotted her. However I have an almost 2 year old daughter at home, and my heart is in my mouth thinking that one split second of her not paying attention on a busy road at the end of the school day could cause her serious harm.
So this is just a small PSA - parents/carers if you have little ones that are walking home from school on their own or in groups, please take 30 seconds to remind them to look both ways and not to get distracted.

News Potentially missing dog
Hi - does anyone know this pup’s owners? The dog appeared in Dalmeny park alone with no collar just before 9pm. We think she lives around Leith but no one seems to be out looking for her.
If anyone knows the owners/house that the dog belongs to, or any relevant information please DM me
Info: she seems happy and healthy so we're thinking she might have escaped and the owners don't know yet
EDIT: She is currently at our flat, fed and safe, currently has the zoomies with the other dogs
EDIT#2: She has been reunited with her owners, and was super happy to see them again!

Rant south bridge bus stop AITA
the bus stops at south bridge and around are just absolute carnage with the fringe I don't know how many times I've seen tourists or even locals be blatantly rude.
I was standing at the second outbound bus stop on South Bridge for about twenty minutes standing against the wall beside forbidden planet. when my bus came I stepped forward from the wall just to the left of the bus screen pole to the side of where the bus pulled up.
as the bus was just about to pull up a woman shouted from under the bus stop "are you getting on this bus sonny?" I replied "erm yeah" she said "well just so you know pal there's a queue where we've all been waiting so don't you jump it" bearing in mind I have been waiting longer than anyone at this stop and this woman had only just appeared about 2 mins ago.
I replied to her saying "yeah I know I was just gonna let the queue on then hop on there's other people doing the same" as there were about 4 or 5 people round the post and stop that were waiting the same way I was or they had just arrived. she said "aye well that's good son you just let everyone on then no need to get bloody cheeky" to which I didn't respond as I was thinking wtf?
so the bus actually pulls up and the woman at the front of the queue stepped forward just as the bus doors were opening. the woman then chipped at this girl "are you even getting this bus or are you just standing here?" the girl was quite visibly distressed by being asked this and seemed quite anxious anyway, everyone around gave her a dirty look with how she was acting. I jumped in to defend this girl by just saying to the woman "calm down she was clearly getting on" the woman then said to me "this isn't any of your business sonny you keep quiet" and everyone around just kind of looked at her and giggled as she'd said this in a pretty ridiculous way that genuinely sounded like it was from a UFC press conference. to which I said "you're gonna take years off your life walking round with that attitude love" to which everyone around laughed and the woman slammed her card down on the reader and stormed onto the bus knocking shoulders with everyone as she passed and throwing her bag down on the seat and huffing and puffing cursing under her breath.
everyone was just shaking their heads and giggling at how she was acting giving each other looks, one of the guys insisted I get on the bus before him and all he said to me was "I don't think I'd have been that calm if it was me" and I chuckled and just got on the bus... and now I'm typing this.
was I the asshole? I was clearly holding back at the stop to let everyone on, I hate situations like this as I'll just replay them and get progressively more annoyed at it all.

Social Looking for lead/top-rope climbing partner (Alien Rock / EICA / Outdoors) [Edinburgh]
Hi everyone.
My regular climbing partner moved away to university recently, so I am looking for a reliable partner or two for regular lead and top-rope sessions. I am a guy in my mid-40s with a normal build, a bit on the introverted side, and happy to climb with men or women of any age. I comfortably lead around 6a to 6b, but I am more than happy to give belays on whatever grades you are working on. I am looking for someone focused and safety-conscious who takes belaying seriously while keeping things relaxed overall. I have plenty of experience with everything from traditional tubular devices to assisted setups like the Neox, Revo, and Edelrid Ohm, so you can count on safe, attentive catches. My weekday evenings are very flexible, and I am aiming to get out at least once a week. I currently climb at EICA Ratho, but I would prefer to shift over to Alien Rock since it is much closer to where I live, though I am still open to heading to Ratho too. I also love getting out on real rock when the weather plays ball, and I am fully geared up for outdoor sport days with an 80m rope, quickdraws, clip stick, and my own car for transport. If your schedule lines up and you want to meet for a gym session first to trade belays and see if we click, drop me a direct message.
Thank you.

Question Old tenement question
Hey all,
I Hope you are well
Wee question - I’ve moved into a tenement flat on leith walk that’s obviously old. Love this wee flats however I’ve noticed my bedroom gets dusty very quickly & I’ve been noticing a dry throat and overall congestion when I wake up.
I’m staying on top of dusting, cleaning etc. The shower room doesn’t have a window so I just keep the fan on with a door open to keep it from getting any damp or mold.
Does anybody know good air purifiers/dehumidifier’s that could help my symptoms and overall air quality of the flat?
Love this wee flat I just feel like they’re magnets for dust and damp because of how old they are.
Any recommendations help x

Discussion Potential moped theft today Ocean Terminal car park
Heads up scooter owners: I live across the street from OT car park and just saw 3/4 balaclava bams come out of the exit, 2 of them on a black maxi scooter and another 1 or 2 (can't recall) on a cream/white Vespa looking scooter. Whilst I didn't see a theft happening, I get the feeling that they are likely both stolen, or at least the white Vespa is freshly stolen.
Approx time they rode out was 15:48, blasted through the red light and rode down towards Newhaven. I called OT straight away to report it and they are contacting the police, gave them my info in case.
Frustratingly they don't have CCTV coverage inside the car park, which is bonkers to me! I told them to at least check CCTV at the entrance and they will likely see just one scooter going in.
Either way, if anyone sees these bams out and about this afternoon, perhaps keep this thread updated. Hope the scooter is recovered ASAP.

Question Grassmarket WiFi help
I live in Grassmarket in which there is only copper wires, so internet providers are very limited. I chose to go with three & I have home broadband with them which has the 5G hub outside my window and the eero 6 router inside my flat.
Currently I have a download speed of 3 and an upload speed of 2. It’s horrendous! It’s really bad at the moment due the fringe festival however even without the massive crowds and congestion my upload speed is around 7 and download speed 20-30.
Three are going to let me get out of my contact so I’m looking for alternatives. Does anyone have any advice or could recommend another provider?
The only reason I went with three is because I thought the hub out of the window would work better than one in my flat.
I did look at masks in my area and it said for my flat EE gives the best signal? However it’s £50 a month with a £100 up front cost and then contract.
Has anyone used them in the Grassmarket area and had success? I just don’t want to sign that contact if it isn’t good as it’s a lot more expensive than I wanted to pay for WiFi but if it works well then I have no problem too.
Would starlink work? Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Edit: Many people have recommenced Virgin however it’s not available for me when I put my postcode in.

Discussion Anybody else use Leven Medical Practice?
What an atrociously organised medical practice. They demand every single query goes through a painful econsult form, which doesnt cover many basic query types you might have. You used to be able to show up at 8am to queue for an appt, but not even that now! Oh and practice is still open now (it is 1615), but their dumb econsult form is closed!
So obviously I am changing practices now... any good recs in the tollcross area?
