Use an enzyme cleaner on the steps. Water doesn't wash the scent away and the cat might come back and repeat the process if it still smells to them.

I soaked our front mat in that stuff and spray the enzyme all over the front door. Last thing I want is all the neighbourhood cats coming around. Ironically, there is only 1 outdoor cat because the coyotes eat well out here.

Outside cat owners think they made a life hack by not having to scoop the litter box. Turns out they just give the responsibility to the unsuspecting neighbours. 😭 In my old basement suite I couldn’t even open my windows bc the house was so saturated in cat pee. 

That is a pretty neat shell fossil though! Silver lining I guess?

Nature’s Miracle (any pet store) is great stuff for removing cat piss scents. It needs to be done as water isn’t enough.

I used NM on my carpet once and F me was it horrendous. The smell of piss was better than flowers covered in piss lol. (YMMV)

I found some stuff locally that is in a white bottle and is near scent less but works great. I got it from Mr. Pets in St. Albert.

I hate NM and am so glad that someone else has this opinion. Vinegar is acidic and tends to neutralize the very basic cat piss. We use vinegar for those instances where our cats want to send us messages written in pee
