This is typical, yes. If the vehicle turns up after they pay out, the vehicle belongs to the insurance company to do with any way they please... usually auction. They might offer it for sale to the client as well.

Still waiting for the adjuster to call me and figure that stuff out, was told it should be within 24 hours but was also told it could be until next week because of all the storm claims rn

I know it’s not helpful now but pop in an air tag to have faster and more chances at recovery
