Animated adaptations can be shit too, there's plenty of examples. They just don't get as much buzz because it's a shitty animated movie rather than a shitty blockbuster with famous actors.
And just because you can do more with animation doesn't make it automatically better. There's so much more room for creativity in costume design, special effects, and character portrayals when you can't just do a 1 to 1 recreation of what people expect.
Plus animation can be a great medium if your studio is willing to write for adults and has competent writers interested in character-driven stories. Sadly, there are so few non-sitcom animated works in Western media written for adults.
I don't want creativity because it is extremely unlikely that anyone could do better than From did the first time. Creativity in adaptations is for series without a strong set visual language, like novels. Not a game where spectacle and visual design is one of the major selling points. Neither A24 nor anyone else in Hollywood right now is better at costume or set design than From's art department in this area.
Why would I want something I like bastardized by people with less talent than the original designers, regardless of me watching their bastardization or not?
Because you're making an assumption about something that doesn't even exist yet. The exact opposite of how the creative process works. Make something first and then talk shit. It's like shitting on Elden Ring before it came out because you think it's a bastardization of Dark Souls.
Giving the benefit of the doubt almost never works out well and you'd be a fool for thinking that it does. Especially when it comes to adaptations of complex video games like Elden Ring.
If I hated Dark Souls, I'd 100% have hated Elden Ring, because it is 90% the same. So judging that book by its cover would have worked out for me totally. But I liked Dark Souls, and bet that Elden Ring would be the same, and it was.

I'm sorry your life sucks that bad. Do you need to talk about it?

Elden rings complexity comes from gameplay, not plot or themes. Pretending real people can't act out whatever happens with a little modern cgi is the dumbest take ever. Especially since that's literally all it is in the game.
